Procrastination

I was told a cluttered desk is the sign of a genius so I live by that mantra! Like Anno when I was studying I was always up the night before an assignment was due in!

PS - I like getting a bit of news with Christmas cards & maybe an update photo but just not too much news. We get one hilarious letter from a husband, all very tongue in cheek, always look forward to it. One year he decided enough was enough and everyone complained they missed it!

Just read this thread & it's really made me chuckle.. thanks Gransnetters, you've totally cheered me up - almost made me forget about all the Christmas cards/present shopping/food shopping/present wrapping etc. jobs, they'll just get done when they get done. At least I now know I'm not the only one putting them off …

Procrastination Possibly a winter affliction. Dark with awful weather. We crank up the central heating and lethargy sets in.
But come the spring we will be hopping a round like little bunnies and writing threads about Spring cleaning

At last I've fitted the new loo seat. That wasn't a problem - getting the old one off was a real headache because of corrosion on the fittings. However, all is now well and the seat is ... in use!

Christmas cards, I suppose I should have started writing them

In case anyone is interested ( I know how busy you all are doing all those little tasks) the ding table is now awash with paperwork and unwritten Christmas cards I'd laugh if I could summon up the energy

I actually like receiving round robins! I enjoy friends and relatives news. I agree some sound a bit like a CV! I tend to send some RR but mainly to friends I know want an update on us all. We are a large family so there is usually news to tell!

Taken me 3 days to finally doing the bathroom -I hate doing the bathroom

Round robins are dreadful btw. I only get one, a couple of typed pages about the wider family, boasting about their exploits, achievements, the writer's various holidays, myriad health problems, personal problems, yawn yawn. I write a note in with cards and although it gets a bit tedious at least it's personal to the receiver and as I keep their letters from the previous year I can comment appropriately. Note to self - buy some cards and stamps !

Sorry Nankate I'm not keen on round robins either

I hate the smug round robin letters, but I quite like the chatty, newsy ones and enjoy catching up with what friends and their DC have been doing all year.

I know it's done to save time ( round robins) and to avoid repeating all the same things, but that is what makes them so impersonal, I would rather have a quickly scrawled remark or two aimed just at me.However, that is just me, others may well enjoy hearing all the family news.

Don't apologise Roses I am leaning in that direction myself. This year I may only send 3 or 4 and just put a personal note to everyone else.

Hurray Hurray - I have printed off the Xmas labels, took me about an hour but they are all ready to go on the cards, which I still have to write.

Now to another tricky question - do any of you do a Round Robin Xmas letter updating friends with family news? I once received a rather nasty reply from a friend who said she loathed them. Although she could have put it in nicer words, I just wonder if she was right.

When I was working flat out and had family at home it was the only way I could update my friends, I just had so little time. I looked forward to receiving news from them.

I now only send the round robin to the few older relatives I write to, as they seem interested and write a personal note in the card to the rest on my list.

I feel bad that I sent those RR letters out for years, when perhaps they were unwelcome.

I keep meaning to contribute to this thread, but never quite get round to it . . . .

I've shortened a shower curtain but the aforementioned loo seat has still to be changed.

rosequartz, I can totally relate - I'm sitting here with a half sewn up cardigan on the arm of my sofa. I can see it out of the corner of my eye, guilt-tripping me all the while I'm typing / browsing. I could move it out of sight, but I'm not going to give it the satisfaction

I have done several jobs today that needed to be done including having a big tidying up session [smug]
However, that is only because the weather is atrocious and we decided not to go out to see the DGC
Now I am indulging in 'displacement activity' instead of sewing up some knitting.
