Aldi steals JL's thunder!

I have no idea where my nearest Waitrose is. I went in one on holiday once looking for a tin of something mundane (can't remember what) when I asked a member of staff the reply was " Oh, we don't stock that madam"
I left.

My OH bought a telescope from Lidl a while ago. He raves about it. It's made in Germany and very good quality. I have never looked through it so I can't corroborate! Love Aldi, Lidl and JL.

Shop where you like Wilma. I don't mind.

I think rq's reason for preferring Waitrose's milk may be that they give a fairer deal to dairy farmers than Aldi, Lidl and Asda.

rosequartz I don't want to have to look for bargains though and jing I don't want to be bothered with price matching. I just want to do my shopping and not feel that the prices are too high. I'm happy with the quality of food I buy from ASDA, Lidl or Tesco and don't need to buy the premium quality offered by Waitrose.

rq I don't understand the logic of crossing the road to buy milk in Waitrose instead the other shops? Is there a reason why you would do this?

The irony is they are building an Aldi right in front of my house on the next road. of course I will go in and have a look. I went in the new Lidl when it opened and bought a loaf of bread and a bottle of Prosecco - haven't been back.

And I would cross the road from Asda, Lidl or Aldi to Waitrose to buy my milk.

It gave me a good laugh, while the JL ad made me cry

blackdog2 may mean me to get a life. Have never shopped at Aldi, the nearest shop to me takes a while to get to and passes many supermarkets on the way. I'm not a "small minded anti Aldi fan" blackdog I was just a little surprised after watching the Channel 4 programme.
Will admit to being a Sainsbury fan.

I love both ads, although I take my hat off to the one by Pieces for Places because it is supporting the local Age UK.

My DB and his wife (no kids and good pensions) are very particular about where they shop preferring Waitrose above most other supermarkets. It's a bit of a family joke when we get together as I usually put something in front of them and watch their faces when I tell them it's from Aldi. It's not my main place to shop but they do have bargains and both they and Lidl have a good range of continental foods. DD does all her food shopping in Aldi and says the wine is great! Love the advert.

If they buy Aldi ones they won't be able to see the moon!
