Clues please!

Ana Sat 28-Nov-15 17:32:39

NanKate is right, it's Brush up your Shakespeare from Kiss me Kate

(I had to google it!)

wotanuisanceABC123 Sat 28-Nov-15 17:27:42

Oh well..................

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 28-Nov-15 08:36:24

I know Kiss Me Kate is the Taming of the Shrew, but that doesn't help because the only song I have know is I Hate Men

Katek Sat 28-Nov-15 08:28:38

Brush Up Your Shakespeare

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 27-Nov-15 22:54:04

grin I think it's a song from Kiss Me Kate! Can't remember the name though.

Ana Fri 27-Nov-15 20:58:39

I thought Howard Keel was a gentleman! shock

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 27-Nov-15 20:51:27

Is it from a Howard Keel musical?

feetlebaum Fri 27-Nov-15 20:34:03

Whee!

OK - here's one from a show tune....

If she says that your actions are heinous, Kick her right in the Coriolanus

hildajenniJ Fri 27-Nov-15 14:21:45

Yes feetlebaum, The Big Rock Candy Mountain.

"Where a bum can stay for many a day, and he won't need any money".

rosesarered Fri 27-Nov-15 14:21:40

That wasn't my guess at the song btw! grin

rosesarered Fri 27-Nov-15 14:17:30

Get that bum outa here!

wotanuisanceABC123 Fri 27-Nov-15 13:56:19

Ana.....it was a desperate guess!

feetlebaum Fri 27-Nov-15 13:55:10

@hildajenni - Big Rock Candy Mountains

('Jungle' refers to a hobo encampment, often in a railroad yard or nearby)

Ana Fri 27-Nov-15 13:35:16

I don't remember any jungle fires burning in King of the Road...grin

wotanuisanceABC123 Fri 27-Nov-15 13:29:03

King of the Road????

hildajenniJ Fri 27-Nov-15 13:25:40

Burl Ives, and Roger Whittaker have both recorded it. It's about a Hobo's dreamland.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 27-Nov-15 12:52:33

Saturday morning for me was Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart and Junior Choice. But I can't think of a song that has bum in it!

Another clue (before I give in!)?

grannylyn65 Fri 27-Nov-15 08:45:36

Is that an answer or a question feetle ? ?

hildajenniJ Fri 27-Nov-15 07:57:58

Cast your mind back to the Light Programme on a Saturday morning. Uncle Mac's Children's Favourites, it has the word bum (he he) in it.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 27-Nov-15 07:29:13

feetlebaum I just Googled Guy Mitchell and know quite a few of his songs because my Dad had lots of hits of the 50s albums. I know all the words to Singing the Blues! grin

feetlebaum Fri 27-Nov-15 06:31:50

@HildajenniJ : - a blind guess:

Aba-Daba Honeymoon?

feetlebaum Fri 27-Nov-15 06:28:48

A big hit in its day, WilmaK, for Guy Mitchell, produced by Mitch Miller.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 26-Nov-15 22:53:46

It reminds me of my Grandad's party piece which was something about she wears red feathers and a hooly hooly skirt, lives on fresh coconuts and fish from the sea! It was a little done with actions and a bit like Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes where you stay silent at certain words! grin

Ana Thu 26-Nov-15 22:41:09

It sounds like the beginning of one of those 'novelty' songs which might well be considered to be un-PC these days! grin

(but I could be wrong, of course...)

wotanuisanceABC123 Thu 26-Nov-15 22:36:08

Awwwwwww! We're stuck!
