Jokes to keep my DH, middle son, and me from getting cross with each other as we are getting ready to move next week

That's why we have stayed put (so far) can't face it.

I don't know - just tackle different rooms and meet for a coffee/meal!
Moving isn't funny, sorry .....

Never needed jokes to help us move, and things never became shouty, why would they?Plenty of tea and biscuits will be needed though.

Having moved house twice in the last year here is a joke you might like to share as you sit among the packing cases etc.,

"How many border collies does it take to change a light bulb."
"One and then it will rewire your house for you."

Thank you Jane and Falconbird. We don't want to move, but increasing health problems make it a necessity. House too big, and I can no longer keep the garden I have created the way I would like. We have found a bungalow in the same village, it's really nice. It has a large conservatory and a nice size garden too. I can choose what I want to do in it, but pay some one to do the work.

Sounds like a sensible decision. I'm sure you'll enjoy life there once the general upheaval is over.

Jokes? Guess so, but,

When we moved her 30+ years ago, our next door neighbour brought round a tray with a pretty teapot, matching cups, saucers and a plate full of biscuits. Only then, we all realised how thirsty we were. We sat
on the floor and enjoyed the respite and our neighbour's thoughtfulness.

Maybe take a thermos, snacks and juice in case.

Good luck with the weather. A shame there aren't smiles for sun or rain.

Sorry, hopeless with jokes but do send good wishes and a hope for a dry moving day. We did just what you describe two years ago. It was hard work but worth it. Happy new home to you.

Always take the kettle and tea and biscuits with you ( don't pack them) then when you get to the new house put them straight in the kitchen, both you and the removal men will need them!Good luck.
