Ramona - it does help to have a thick skin on GN because being 'grans' certainly does not mean we are all sweetness and light. Perhaps you expect too much? We all have our own opinions, hang-ups and prejudices as well as our pet likes and dislikes. Most of us try to avoid hurting fellow GNetters and it is obviously good to respect the opinions of others but it would be a very boring forum if we agreed on everything without argument and, quite often, disagreement. I do wonder if your OP is deliberately designed to cause controversy?

And, as someone (maybe jing?) said ^ ^ ^, quite rude to comment on our behaviour as your first post (well, the first I had seen and I apologise if it wasn't!)). We all jog along fairly well despite appearances and if you don't like it please find a forum that is all sweetness and light.

Can be quite heated on here at times. Some threads do ramble off message fairly quickly and turn into a slanging match, without much provocation.

However if the alternative is platitudes we must be prepared for a,few sparks.

When you think the youngest Gran must be in her 40s and eldest 80s or 90s. We also come from all over the country and all sorts of lifestyles. Makes it harder to see eye to eye.

so I wrote on the board:

repétez SVP
and
répétez SVP

and did explain that it made a massive difference lol

I used to know the codes by heart for accents on my old UK computer- forgotten now. As said, on this French keyboard they are all here in place of other key on the right-hand side.

If you type A or a but hold the key down, you'll get a selection of accents, the same for e, o etc. just slide your finger across to the one you fancy want (that's if using iPad). On a laptop or computer just do the same with your finger or the mouse.
