DH and I have been discussing this very topic over the last few weeks. My mum who lives alone has very poor mobility mostly due to crippling arthritis. She has all of her marbles but is only just about managing to care for herself with lots of help from both my sister and I. Things are getting harder for her day by day. We do have room for her but I absolutely know that she would hate to become a burden along with leaving her independence behind and come to live with us, I also know she would hate the thought of going into a care home., If I'm perfectly honest it would probably be a recipe for disaster, her living with us, we don't always see eye to eye. We've never fallen out but that's because I can leave and go home to my own house. Having said all that, I think eventually and in the not too distant future we will be putting it to her and in the unlikely event that she agrees, give it a try. Maybe with lots of understanding and patience on my part and a little on hers,it can work.
I would never expect to live with my own DC's.
I love *Nelliemoser's role reversal idea! Ha ha.

Daughter not allowed to know new baby’s name until she visits him

I'm not sure I'd ever wanted my father living with me, we didn't have a particularly good relationship and I think that would be absolutely pivotal.
