Im the elder tree, the queen of the meadow. I have lovely flowers and make good wine but if you eat my berries I am poison.

I'm like a tough old shrub in the corner, plodding on and working hard to earn my place and almost forgotten in the corner, a deutzia maybe - and then suddenly for a short while I manage to bloom magnificently and everyone looks at me in surprise and says - my, you do scrub up well!

A horse chestnut tree.

Changing with the seasons.

Quiet in winter though full of life inside, now and over the many years.

Explosive in Spring with white candle flowers.

Busy in Summer and generous in Autumn keeping children happy and reminding adults of youth. ( still get excited if I find a shiny consumer. )

Surviving despite having sticks thrown up to my top branches. Can't beat a horse chestnut hope they don't die out any time soon.....that'll do.
