Oh Bella. I am so sad for you. Life can be so cruel.

My own sadness at DS going back to uni tomorrow, leaving me with a still-depressed DBH seems quite petty by comparison - I shall miss his smiley face.

How very sad bella you must feel every thing is coming so fast for you. It must feel more than you can bear but bear it you must and we know you will. There is no alternative. I hope your family are a tower of strength for you , you really need them now. We can only be here to listen and send love to you when you need it.

Bellasnanna I am so sorry to hear that- you have had a year of it so far and there is a limit to what one can cope with.

Hopefully Zim will now recognise that you have arrived home and with luck may return.

You must also rest, you cannot do everything at once.

Alea you have also had a hard time recently- hopefully that may change now.

Bellasnana I am lost for words. Alea is far more eloquent than I. Please do not feel that you need to be "strong" for us lot. You can share whatever, whenever and we will do our best to be of some small comfort to you.

Alea I am pleased to hear that your husband's condition has been stabilised. You have both been through a frightful time.

I do hate it when life expectation is expressed as a length of time. It's only numbers. The quality of her remaining months/weeks/years is what matters.
Will you go back? Or do you feel you have said your goodbyes? That is intrusive so don't answer if you don't want to, not my business.
I suppose it is an opportunity for the family to come together and support each other, but you have been through all of this too recently to make it anything other than very, very hard. X

Thank you, annsixty for your kind wishes. I have just spoken to my darling sister and, as we had sort of expected, things are not good and they are stopping her treatment. The oncologist has given her three to six months to live so, as you can imagine, I'm in bits

I know I should be used to it by now but I just feel totally heartbroken. This year really has been tough and seems set to continue that way. My stiff upper lip has cracked, I'm afraid

Greetings Bella I do hope your cat turns up.It's the not knowing what has happened that is so bad. I so envy you your Bougainvillea is one of my favourite shrubs.It reminds me of happy times when my DD lived abroad and every thing grew in profusion and was so beautiful.

Alea what a drama you have had with your DH. Pleased to hear he is doing a bit better now.

Still no sign of our cat Zim. It's been over a week now so I am beginning to lose hope

Have been busy since returning home. Garden in a state - so many things dead because nobody watered them. Bougainvillea run riot so have done my best to prune it a bit, although it has huge, horrible thorns so it managed to attack me in more than one part of my anatomy.

Car battery totally flat. Haven't called the breakdown service yet, but must get on with it. Have paid several outstanding bills. Trying to do all the jobs I relied on DH to do, but feel his absence more than ever.

Dear sister is at the oncologist today for her scan results. She has been going downhill for a while so not really expecting good news. She has reached the 5 year survival rate so has become a statistic.

Tonight DD2 and I are dong a midnight walk in aid of the Hospice Movement who were such a great help during DH's illness. At present I ache all over from all the housework, laundry, etc so hope I will be raring to go later on

Thinking of you all, especially those of you with a lot to deal with.

PS. It's very hot here still - preferred the weather in Kent.

Soop and Annsixty yes there was lots of dark crispy skin and the dgc DON'T like it, imagine, so I had to share it with Emma who was delighted to help out. Will put a new rice pudding in the kitchen for all who like it. Sorry Charleygirl. What would you like for pudding Charleygirl

Alea so glad your DH is improving. Mine had clopidogrel too. Was on it for a few weeks. I think it is quite a common drug for stroke/Tia patients. Hope you get a good nights sleep too. You need to keep your strength up as well.

Just had a little giggle to myself when I typed the word 'moon' wondering what would happen if a bare bottom was to appear instead of the usual moon shape

Where did that GN come from? I swear my iPad has gremlins and/or a mind of its own.

Happy to say DH managed to tunnel his way to freedom this evening, not least GN after being moved to a single room , hoping he might get a decent night's sleep for once! He is much better but I will continue to worry as he has had his Warfarin replaced with aspirin and Clopidogrel for the next 14 days and will have a further scan on his heart to make sure there are no lurking clots, but that can't happen until early October.
His speech is back to normal, the arm is pretty nearly normal but he is very, very tired so I am clucking round him like a mother hen.
A person is always better in their own bed, I think, so I am keeping everything crossed we have no relapse like earlier in the week.
Annsixty and charleygirl I do send you my best, when you're ur eyes are giving trouble it impacts every bit of you IMO .
So, hoping that everyone else is taking good care of themselves

Morning trip to the care home. After which, we shall have a light lunch and then do the Tesco shop. Back home to pop into our kitchen to catch up with my Granspals. x

Well said regarding your post about the cost of NHS treatment. We are all so fortunate. I certainly count my many blessings.

I've fed Rory and Tortoiseshell cat. Both feeding bowls licked clean.

I am willing Zim to walk back into Bella's arms. I can imagine how happy that pussy cat's return will make Bella.

I had no idea how much the injections cost but if it arrests the development surely it is in the interests of the NHS to pay because you would cost the "system" more if you were totally blind. I am also not forgetting that your husband would require care so it is cheaper in the long run to treat you with the injections.

I know that Charleygirl and feel so lucky that I have a chance of an improvement,and if I can have laser treatment, a huge improvement. One of the nurses on Monday told me that the injections cost ??2000 per eye.Hooray for the NHS.

ann I have dry Macular and as you are aware there is no cure for it at present and I doubt if there will be in my lifetime.

Tara the minx left this hotel after 8.30am this am and has not been seen since. Last night it was 11pm before she deigned to return, having a snack and then retiring to bed. Early nights to read my book are a thing of the past.
