soop your house looks like a veritable treasure trove, full of lovely objects and memories.

DBH is returning this evening. He sounds a lot better, and has only had one big panic attack while he was away, so I think we may be getting there. I do hope so, I would like to have my old husband back, snoring and mess and all. Even though the house has stayed remarkably clean and tidy in his absence . I now know exactly which bits he makes dirty, and we shall have words at some point as it has become obvious that he has been using my toothbrush when he goes to bed, rather than go to his own bathroom when he forgets! (He has his own bathroom downstairs - his choice, decorated with manly greys, blacks and red!) I did wonder how on earth I had managed to splash the mirror with toothpaste, when I was always so careful not to!

stillhere I did try (for all of a few hours) to think minimalist. I'm afraid that I do have an attachment to a few so-called treasures. Precious objects can make a house a home, methinks.
I am pleased to hear that your husband's wee break has benefitted him and, of course, you too. Your post made me ...I can almost see certain rooms that you mention in my mind's eye. Splashed toothpaste ...hey ho! Messiness can be overlooked. You wouldn't want a perfect husband. I know that I would not.

I had to steam-clean the rug in the sitting-room - the sun shone brightly on a certain spot and all at once I realised it wasn't where he put his feet, it is where he puts down his coffee mug when I am not around! I am on to him now. The coffee making area is pristine, the cooker top is clear of debris, the floor has no sign of a scrap of cereal - all 'bitty' areas that, I was informed, are just as much down to me!

A soggy Sunday morning to our Kitcheners.

Our village is cut off as the burn has breached it's banks and flooded the wee cottages together with the one and only shop. Living where we do, on the outskirts, we do not suffer the same fate. Our garden resembles a lake. Nothing to worry about. The villagers all pull together in times of disruption. We've been phoned twice and asked how we are coping.
Compared with the trauma and misery of countless people in this world of ours...I can only count our many blessings.

As you are well aware, all is right with the world provided that Rory does not have to dip a paw in water and get it wet.

Provided that your personal lake stays outside, you will be fine. Look after yourselves and stay warm.

It was wet here all day yesterday- Tara went out at 7am and I did not see her until after 5pm and she was as dry as a bone-how?

Oh dear, I hope it goes down soon, or you will need your waders! It's been very windy here in east angular, but nothing like as windy as it was up north, so DBH says. We passed a couple of trees down, and engineers fixing a telegraph pole that was on the road on a nasty bend, but all we suffered was a couple of chairs blown over in the garden.

DBH seems quite a lot better. Still not quite there, but we were able to be out amongst people for far longer today than he has managed lately.

Tara must have found shelter! They are not daft.

I agree, she has found somewhere but she will not be indoors or enclosed. I would love to know where the minx goes every day for so long.

She shares my bed, forgetting that I own it because she squeaks if I turn over, having disturbed her. She has a bedroom she has taken over and uses when I disturb her too much + 2 proper cat beds which she avoids like the plague.

That's cats for you. Rory refuses to dip his paddy-paws into puddles. He thinks of himself as being far too sophisticated.

stillhere a little improvement must mean a great deal to you and your husband. You are both in my thoughts.

Time to ride the exercise bike (for a wee while). I watched the Novak game earlier. Rather boring, I thought. Andy plays tomorrow. Yay!

A blustery good morning to our Kitcheners. For the moment the rain has ceased. The village looks awfully messy. Some gardens have suffered badly. Dear folk helping each other to clear up. Rory refuses to get his paws wet!

Helloooo! Popping in to touch base after quite a long absence. You see, I have acquired a puppy! A little cocker spaniel, now 14 weeks old. DD3 bought her (pedigree so cost a fortune, but that is DD's style) for her little boys but quickly discovered that was a bad idea. She runs her own business and is a seperated mum of 2 boys and has absolutely no time to spare. I did warn her puppies are like babies and need a lot of attention!

I couldn't bear the idea of her being sold on, and the DGSs were distraught at the thought of losing her......so muggins here has taken her on, thus completely giving up any idea of an unencumbered retirement. But she is so lovely, albeit lively. The incontinence has improved but she still needs a lot of looking after! So visits to the Kitchen and GN in general have been curtailed!

We have her as a shared custody arrangement, with the pup going to DD at the weekends.

Bravo...Judthepud2 I have great respect for animal lovers such as yourself. You've done the right thing. Happy times ahead...

Andy played a good match this afternoon. I enjoyed every moment.

I'm closing down until I return from the care home visit in the morning.

Still extremely blustery outside the front door. We shall snuggle down together with Rory.

Judthepud at least you do not have to look after the dog at weekends as well and with luck if you want to go away you will not have the expense of kennel fees. He sounds gorgeous.
