Ooer...Scotland v Australia this afternoon. There will be a great deal of noise coming from this house. Rory will go into hiding. Come on Scotland! 
I've photographed one of the rams in the nearby field. He is to be the subject of the second portrait that is to be auctioned to raise funds for the village hall. A handsome creature.
I did "the tour" of the Parliament Building some years ago and thought it OK on the inside, but the outside . . . . ?
On a positive note I PMd Pompa last night and he is hoping to rejoin us in the Kitchen very soon.

Alea I rather like the parliament building. We attended a debate in the early days. We were upstairs in the rogues'gallery. I remember that, as were about to make a discreet exit, my cape hooked itself over one of the seats. There was an almighty and most embarrassing clatter. 
I've now completed the first wash on the new highland coo portrait. It is at this stage that I am hugely optimistic.
Time for a G&T. The weather has been perfect all day through. May need to photo the sunset.

I've bent my specs and they won't remain in situ. It is so frustrating. My language is far from lady-like.
Lona and number I know! I know! I shall need to start from scratch with the Highland Coo portrait. We've also taken photos of the local long-horned sheep. The two portraits are to be auctioned on December 4th. The village needs a new hall. All manner of stuff is to be donated. Plenty of time in which to discard a few more "not good enoughs..."
Last night's harvest supper was enormous fun. £601 was raised. All the food was either grown or cooked by the villagers. The young folk of the village provided the entertainment. Our neighbour who has dementia joined us. He barely spoke but he certainly enjoyed the companionship, the music and, as we had a lift home, he also partook of a wee dram. All in all...a very happy way to pass an evening with some special people.

jollyg We must think positive thoughts. There is a wonderful estate close by that is on the market...for a few million. However, when the time's right, should we still nurture our dream...who knows what may transpire. Elegran has a lovely, roomy property in Edinburgh. She could maybe let some of her rooms to us lot providing we behave ourselves .
I have ruined the portrait of the Highland Coo. I need not have tiddled with it. It was coming along nicely and, I was pleased with it. I shall never learn. Once a painting is looking promising I "overwork" it. that's about five hours work in the bin! Hey ho! As bags would say. I shall begin again tomorrow.

We've been visiting our pal in Campbeltown care home. It is a lovely day. Here are a few photos of Campbeltown Loch.
The Harvest festival supper will be held in the village hall tonight. It promises to be a noisy affair. A few residents entertain the guests with music and poetry. I need to look out a suitable garment for the occasion. Possibly my kilt and a colourful jacket.

Soop your paintings are wonderful. Please don't get frazzled. I am sending you a virtual pair of tartan ear muffs to wear when paining just in case you are tempted to lop off an ear or two if it isn't going well
Put me down for the Kitchen Commumity Home. I would like to volunteer as waiter. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. I will be in charge of distributing wee drams as and when required too

I began by having a wobbly with the highland cow portrait. It's an arty farty personality trait. No wonder Vincent cut his ear off! Seriously, though, I'm so surprised by the results so far. It's very contemporary: highly stylised/colourful...it's fun and when it comes to the long-horned ram, I shall use the same technique. Should no-one bid for the paintings, I shall buy them for myself. You lot will get a preview when both complete.
Having spent almost half a day with the Highland Coo I need to clear the so-called studio and wash the brushes.
It has been a glorious day. No wind. Sunshine from dawn 'til dusk. I shall catch up with our Kitcheners after tomorrow's trip to visit our pal in the care home.

soop please don't get too frazzled, you always paint wonderful pictures, and you cud always paint the cow in a kilt for fun!
