I agree with the OP. Happy days when an envelope dropped through the door with good/bad news which affected you and your immediate family only. All part of living your life in the goldfish bowl of social media I'm afraid?#grumpyoldwoman.

Annieb, I have a feeling that a lot of our local youngsters will be doing at least one of those things tonight! It's known as 'celebrating'.

I doubt if I could do half a quarter as well in SATs maths as my GS, jane10.

I agree Anniebach we do tend to hear all the negatives about youngsters. Its heartening to hear about the vast majority who are working away at their studies. Good luck to them!

Makes a change from youngsters on drugs, youngsters drunk, youngsters in street brawls, youngsters dodging school etc

Depends on the results Jane10 grin

I suppose its a change from the usual doom and gloom. Mind you I suppose it can be a bad time for some. I'm glad we're past that stage (GSs have a long way till they have exams). I often thought it would be easier and less stressful if I sat the children's exams for them!

I turned the news off this morning as I got sick and tired of it too, well done to all of them and I wish them well but its hardly headline news considering what else was in the news today.,.. at least reading the news online I can read the real news,,

Oops I noticed that one.. Indinana. Sorry

Bellanonna Thu 13-Aug-15 09:59:54

Whenever people say that I have to go back and check. I never notice ! I think my brain just makes sense of what's written, plus I tend to read rather quickly.
Ah, Ininana, I quite enjoy seeing their reactions !

Indinana Thu 13-Aug-15 09:56:50

Oh WHY can't we go back and edit our posts? It's that time of year, not years grin

If it was up to me I wouldn't turn the TV on at all today. Or next Thursday. I am pleased, of course, for the sweet young things delightedly opening their envelopes to see a string of A* results. But I do not care enough to watch wall to wall coverage on all news channels. Every year.
