What a great talent and such a nice man, he will be missed.

I am trying, without much success, to think of any actors of this age who will be remembered in a similar manner. David Suchet is the only one I can think of, perhaps Bill Nighy. It's easier with the women Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Joanna Lumley and the American actress Kathy Bates.

Lovely actor. Arfer Daley was my favourite. When he was in Life of Bliss didn't he have a dog called Psyche who used to 'talk'? I remember my parents laughing at that.

Looks as if you're right absent - I found this on Wiki

Was he not sort of unofficially adopted by Alistair Simm? Thought I read it somewhere ages ago?

One of those who came up the hard way, I think, and gave a lot of people pleasure from his work. Good life, well spent, I hope, and RIP.

Great partnership with Dennis Waterman in Minder.

I think the character Arthur Daly was his best acting, a real classic.

Oh yes, Flash Harry! What a wonderful character that was smile. He really did have such a long and rich career - as you say anno, he seems to have popped up on our screens so regularly ever since. Such a very well loved actor, and well-known to several generations of TV and film lovers.

Sad to hear of the death of George Cole. I loved him as Flash Harry in the St. Trinians films. I remember queueing at the cinema to see The St Trinians Great Train Robbery when I was about 14.

Back in the 50s, I enjoyed listening the A Life of Bliss on the radio. And he's always been somewhere around ever since. He will leave a big gap on our screens.

I loved watching GC - great in the St Trinians films and as Arfur in Minder. RIP flowers

Sad news OH loves his work and he is in lots of the old shows that he watches on daytime tv , he said he saw him in Minder and Heartbeat this week and he's in an episode of Miss Marple today. A very prolific actor in his day.

Another great actor has gone. We loved his character in Minder, and I'm sure he's going to be missed by so many.
