Did anyone else read this article in the ST this weekend? Written by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown it chronicles the abominations perpetrated against women from muslim communities in the UK. Many of these women write to her as some sort of agony aunt and are desperate for help.
She chronicles:
- FGM
- domestic abuse
- forced wearing of cover-up clothing
- forced marriages
- forced abortion of female foetuses
She talked of meeting a "bounty hunter" in a graveyard - these are men who track down women who have escaped from the abuses above and punish them. He carried a rusty knife and said: "We are doing god's work, saving girls. Muslim girls must obey. They must be taught a lesson if they don't."
Some of these women are well-to-do, but still finish up being sent to India to abort female foetuses.
This is going on in the UK. It is shocking.
