I smiled today ...

I smiled at my first email this morning. Skype is arranged for tonight with family and dgs 6,000 miles away.

I smiled yesterday when she who are local came for Sunday dinner,, hadn't seen them for two weeks because of holidays. Even though dgd 7 asked what happened to my roasties....that they were like school canteen. !!! My roasties are great (usually)

I smiled to(yester)day because my DD and her new Husband came home from their holiday and looked so happy and relaxed.

This may seem an unusual one, but I was delighted to see the plethora of bright yellow dandelions along the verges today as I drove through Kent and sussex. An incredible number of these little flowers this year, making vividly colourful carpets rather than the few isolated ones I'm used to seeing. There must be a reason why there are so many - obviously the weather pattern has favoured them.

....because the blossom is out on the apple tree and it smells sublime!

I smiled today when a car drew up outside with a large canoe strapped to the top. A few adults and some little children got out of the car. The children were promptly kitted out with life jackets. I then watched through the bedroom window as the canoe was put into the canal at the back of our house and excited little children got in and paddled off, with
the adults pulling the boat on a rope. We are in the Birmingham so it made me feel a bit rural !

Pittcity . DGS2 used to like sandwich thins toasted, which he calls 'thin toast', but now likes 'untoasted thin toast'!
I smiled today be cause we are coming home tomorrow and will see him and his little sister!

I smiled today when DGS aged 4 said "Yes Grandma, I would like some toast but can I have it cold?" I made toast and left it on the plate to cool. He came into the kitchen after 10 minutes touched the toast and pronounced it still warm and too crunchy. Turned out he really wanted a slice of bread!

I smile every day when I see the stupid mother duck that has chosen to make her nest by my front door. Mostly it's relief that a cat hasn't got her.

Then I frown because I remember that I cannot dig up that bed and rid it of bindweed and couch grass, as previously planned.

Ah poor boys - parent separation is such a difficult thing to come to terms with, especially in your teens. Hope they both get through this testing time quickly annsixty and tanith

I smiled today when 13-month old grandson watched enthralled as I dropped a feather from above his head and it fluttered slowly to the floor, and he then wanted me to do it again... and again... and again. It was a very small feather which had escaped from a cushion but it gave us both such great pleasure. A magic few minutes I'll never forget - I love these unplanned games which just 'happen' and could never be planned.

Thanks annsixty, I got his age wrong he isn't 17 till June.. I hope things work out better for your grandson too.

My 16yr old grandson is also troubled over his parent's separation last year tanith but he is overeating and piling weight on and as he also has an ongoing health problem it is a problem, However so pleased you had something to smile about and hope it continues.

I smiled today when my troubled 17yr old grandson cycled over to visit of his own volition and ate two hot dogs I made him and some crisps . He hasn't been eating properly since his parents parted last year. I managed to worm out of him that he's put on some weight in the last few weeks so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I smiled today because my daughter's dog was back to her normal happy self after having two teeth out yesterday. She was so sorry for herself last night, with sore gums which had been cut and stitched up

I smiled yesterday at the chaos that was my noisy family of 8 adults and 3 tots squashed together round my kitchen table for Sunday dinner. Actually, DS ate standing up at the work surface so the rest of us could breathe!

And I smiled today when DGS2 acted out throwing peas to the ducks this morning. According to him they all gulped them down. In actual fact most of the peas sank without trace and the ducks ignored the rest.

I smiled today because my 12 year old DGS gave me a hug and said 'Love you Nan'.

I smiled today because I was babysitting my two nephews while their mum and dad went to the dentist. The little one (22 months) always makes me smile, he's such a character!

I smiled today because some of the village children are playing in the field behind my house - I love the sound of children laughing! (Although it is being slightly drowned out by the tree surgeons working on my neighbours tree!)

Good news Ceesnan.

I smiled today because our twice a year gardener came and made more difference in half a day than I would in two days, even if I had the time!

I smiled today because DH has finally asked me to go with him for his next doctor's appointment. Now I can ask the questions that DH won't and will hopefully get some answers and a new treatment plan.

I smiled today when meeting my 8 week old great niece for the first time, she is lovely. I also smile to see my niece and her fiance who are obviously so much in love.
(Great niece belongs to my nephew and his partner).

Sounds a bit odd but I smiled today because my DD3 cried. She is getting married next Saturday and had been reading some lovely messages from friends.

I smiled today because DH has written his speech for the wedding and it is really very good.

I smiled today because my soon to be S-I-L gave me a hug and thanked me for all the work I had done towards their wedding.

I smiled to day because DH finally fixed the small leak from the shower head.

8 days Kitty that's a marathon, well done.

I smiled today when our 4 year old grandson wished us goodbye on FaceTime and added 'I love you very much' that kept us going all day.
