Shared finances or not.

I can appreciate it working for some people, but just don't find it fair that my friend makes equal contribution from a much smaller income.

We did have a joint account but for various reasons now have separate ones. We still share costs equally, and it works well.

I have friends who do not have a shared bank account, but one each. She only works part time but makes a payment to her husband towards running costs of the home. She needed a new car - which he bought - but she had to pay him back over a period. Another friend operates in much the same manner but all my other friends pool their money, including my children who are very modern young people. We have always shared our income and I find it quite odd not to do so.
