This poor little kitten PM appeared in my inbox late last night and I wondered if it belongs to anybody here? Because it definitely wasn't meant to come to me. Anybody recognise her it? There is a tag on its collar which says "not a problem" but no name sad

"Thanks for your PM. I couldn't care less, she's always been a boot licker as you said.
Yes. I am in Birmingham the last week of February so we can all meet up there for lunch again if that suits? I'll email you with the attachment tomorrow

X"

I have to say I have chortled heartily at the content and the thought of the blush of the sender, wondering just who (s)he could be meaning!gringrin

Any takers? You know who you are!!

nightowl Sun 08-Feb-15 20:54:51

confused and prefer to stay that way.

whenim64 Sun 08-Feb-15 20:50:28

I'll wait for the person who made the silly mistake to sort it out - maybe apologise to those on the receiving end? Not shoving her name on here - just hopeful she'll do the decent thing and kill the thread off.

rosequartz Sun 08-Feb-15 20:50:04

Birmingham, Alabama?

Geddit?
of course you did!

Ana Sun 08-Feb-15 20:49:43

x posts, when.

However, reading the whole thread it's becoming increasingly obvious who dun it and who knows she dun it. Naughty! does imply that the PM sender is someone who's posted on this thread.

Hardly likely to be absent or anno...hmm

annodomini Sun 08-Feb-15 20:46:57

And just for the record, it doesn't stand for anno either

rosequartz Sun 08-Feb-15 20:44:19

confused Am I missing something here with the A?

Or does A stand for Alabama?
Goes off humming 'Sweet Home Alabama'

I don't recognise the style of the pm so have obviously never received a pm from that person.

I am beginning to feel left out sad

Ana Sun 08-Feb-15 20:40:23

Please tell us who you think dun it, when, and why it's so obvious.
I can't stand the suspense!

whenim64 Sun 08-Feb-15 20:37:59

Ana
"Eh? I can't see any evidence of who dun it. I do hope you're not making assumptions again, when on the grounds that my username begins with A."

There are plenty of Gransnetters whose username begins with A. I certainly didn't assume it might be you who wrote the PM. No assumptions necessary - the style of the PM is recognisable.

phoenix grin

petallus Sun 08-Feb-15 20:07:06

Oh well, the content of the misdirected PM could have been worse. Maybe the person who sent it should 'fess up and put a stop to this tortuous thread. Oh dear, I hope I'm not the bumlicker! grin

Ana Sun 08-Feb-15 20:06:27

I hope that Soutra will come back to this thread and clear things up.

I'm getting a bit fed up of insinuations.

janerowena Sun 08-Feb-15 20:06:16

Phoenix! grin grin grin

annodomini Sun 08-Feb-15 20:01:58

Anne58 Sun 08-Feb-15 19:59:42

To quote Stansgan

Bootlicking in Brum sounds disgusting

I agree, but far better than "Bumlicking in Boots"

annodomini Sun 08-Feb-15 19:54:14

I hope you are right about that, Ana. It's a hurtful description.

loopylou Sun 08-Feb-15 19:47:54

Happily confused!

Ana Sun 08-Feb-15 19:42:57

I'd assume that the 'bootlicker' wouldn't have a clue who she/he was anyway, just from the content of the PM in the OP.

whenim64 Sun 08-Feb-15 19:35:32

anno I think we can safely assume that the person described as a 'bootlicker' need not feel uncomfortable, but has been wrongly slagged off by someone whose judgement is questionable. hmm

annsixty Sun 08-Feb-15 19:34:13

Well it isn't at all obvious to me but as I have posted before there is an inner circle on GN and I'm sure they will know.

granjura Sun 08-Feb-15 19:33:38

whenim64- you are just too clever- because most of us haven't got a clue.
Any pointers?

Ana Sun 08-Feb-15 19:30:30

Eh? I can't see any evidence of who dun it. I do hope you're not making assumptions again, when on the grounds that my username begins with A.

Perhaps you'd like to check with Soutra herself - I certainly had no hand in any of this!

Grannyknot Sun 08-Feb-15 19:28:26

anno this thread makes me feel uncomfortable and I'm not in any one of the three main categories ...

tanith Sun 08-Feb-15 19:23:51

Maybe there is more to Birmingham than I ever knew!! I've only ever driven around it on the way elsewhere.. maybe I should take a trip...grin

whenim64 Sun 08-Feb-15 19:23:14

I'm finding it rather funny. Looks like 'someone' forgot to be nice and has been rumbled. Reading the whole thread it's becoming increasingly obvious who dun it and who knows she dun it. Naughty! grin

annodomini Sun 08-Feb-15 19:19:45

petallus, there are only three people who might be feeling uncomfortable about this thread:

the person described, unkindly, as a 'bootlicker';
the person who sent the message to Soutra in error;
and the person for whom the message was really intended. The rest of us are just interested - and mildly amused - bystanders.
