I have discovered the reason for it now. blush

It's because he came home the other night and said he overdid it in the gym, and practically had to crawl back to the changing rooms on his hands and knees. I said no, he didn't overdo it, it was going to be harder every time he went, because he would always be two days older than the last time he went. I think he had been waiting for the right moment to have his revenge!

My n asked where I was evacuated to, and did I like it. I was born in 1948!!

I tried to convince my kids that things were black and white when I was growing up, but they wouldn't wear it!

My brother used to speak about the olden days when everybody walked quickly......

GD1 asked me if I watched my programmes on the computer when I was a little girl because I told her we didn't have TVs.

Our children were always convinced that we lived in black and white when we were little, and always scoffed at the idea that my school uniform could actually have been green. grin

"Were you alive when Castle Hedingham was built, grandpa?" DGS aged six asked me the other day.

Again, not at all the same, but one day DGD came in after school with a bunch of her pals (they were all aged about 10, if I remember correctly). They'd apparently been having 'special lessons' about 'growing up'.
DGD asked me, in front of all her pals, who were clustered around me in the kitchen, "Grandma, do you use tampons or pads for your periods?" I can't remember how I dealt with the answer, actually... blush!

grin I actually prefer it when he doesn't notice. I tell myself that he doesn't care how disgraceful I look sometimes because he loves me. I think the reality is that he never looks at anything but my face when he is talking to me.

Why am I able to sneak a new dress past him every time - then when I wear something pretty old, he asks if I have bought something new?

At least your DBH noticed you had done something to your hair, janer. When prompted, mine would have said, 'Oh sorry, you're in my blind spot'

Oh that I were really that small. grin

Ok, I feel a bit better now!

DS:
Were you around when there were dinosaurs?
Did you see Queen Victoria when she came to Bath?..... hmm

Not quite the same thing, but while visiting my DD, we were all sitting round the table having dinner. We were discussing a recipe from years ago that my mother used to make. I told my DD that I had tried to remember it when she was a little girl, but couldn't get it right. DGD spoke up and asked, "why didn't you google it Granny". She looked rather perplexed when we all laughed. We did explain , in the end.

One of the kids I used to teach food tech asked me if there were electric mixers around when I was alive!! shock

Our boys used to say, "Back in the mists of time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Dad was just a little baby!"

Hmm - reminds me of the time my daughter came home from a history lesson in school and asked me what it was like to wear a bustle. hmm

My hair naturally has a lot of red in it, I was a strawberry blonde, but lately I have been toning it all down and using a slightly darker beigey colour. My daughter said it made me look a bit washed-out, my skin was too pale for it, so I bought a rinse in a paler shade to try out, which took me a shade lighter but somehow brought out all the red.

DBH came home and said 'What have you been doing to your hair? It looks very different'.

I reminded him that actually, it wasn't far off my natural hair colour. Would he like me to get some photos out from a while back, to remind him? (thinking of those taken on holiday when my hair was sun-bleached only two years ago - he has a VERY short memory)

He looked at me, said 'But that wouldn't help much, surely they were in sepia?

angry

He ran away before I could thump him, sadly. I need revenge but can't think of anything.
