We southern softies often get away with just occasional snowfalls, whilst you northerners have your snow ploughs out.

How are things with you now ?

Hope I haven't jinxed us all in the south I may have to get my shoe grippers out. smile

Had snow on Friday night and yesterday. This morning it had nearly all gone, but it is now snowing again. Nearly horizontal, so obviously windy as well.

Supposed to be going to Sunderland this afternoon.

A light dusting overnight here in Cornwall, but very cold out despite the sunshine.

Had snow yesterday in SW Scotland, it's gone today as the sun(!) has been out! Although the there is a lot of ground water after the gales. x

Happy Birthday MM flowers
I think we must be the only place in Scotland which has not had snow! All my worried friends and rellies keep asking if we are ok, but in spite of a few flurries, not a flake has settled - far too much wind for that probably and we are right by the sea and sheltered by the hills behind - but it has been bloomin' cold for days. and snow ploughs that work day in day out, on all roads including our minor road...

granjura Sat 17-Jan-15 15:27:24

the key to loving snow is to be well equipped- and we are- 4X4 with snow tyres, snow-blower, very thick stone walls and good double glazing, and a huge wood burner to supplement central heating. Sorted.

It's a lovely bright day here on Wirral but rather cold. We had a small amount of snow yesterday but it didn't stick. It may be because we are between two rivers that we have slightly milder weather.

Brendawymms Sat 17-Jan-15 15:14:51

No snow on the Kent Weald, we sometimes get some whilst others don't as we are nearly 700ft above sea level. Rained all morning even whilst the weather man was saying it was dry!

Clicked too quickly. We had our share of snow in early September when we were on holiday in Canada.

ginny Sat 17-Jan-15 15:13:16

Just a flurry this morning. All gone within an hour thank goodness and I hope it stays that way. The only way I like snow is in a picture.

granjura Sat 17-Jan-15 15:04:13

Bon anniversaire maggiemaybe- I shall follow you (same year it seems) end of Feb. Loads of snow here- hurrah.

loopylou Sat 17-Jan-15 15:00:47

Happy birthday and have a wonderful party tonight! flowers for you Maggiemaybe!

Maggiemaybe Sat 17-Jan-15 14:58:32

Shucks, thank you for the birthday wishes - I wasn't angling for them, honest! I had a lovely day, including a nice walk in a snow shower and lots of champagne and spoiling, and it's party time tonight (it's a big one, oo-er!). smile

ninathenana Sat 17-Jan-15 01:29:47

Hope you had a good birthday Maggiemaybe mine is later this month. The day I was born dad had to walk 8 miles through 18" of snow from work to the hospital.

No snow yet but a possible dusting is forecast for tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow.

Marelli Fri 16-Jan-15 23:42:44

Happy birthday, Maggiemaybe51! No snow here in Five as yet today - we did the other day, though. It's all very icy though, so if we do have a snowfall it will be really treacherous underfoot. Take care, and keep cosy, everyone!

baubles Fri 16-Jan-15 22:51:44

Lots here now.. It looks pretty at the moment although I'm hoping the gritters have been out and cleared the main roads. Childminding tomorrow evening and would rather not have to drive in this.

rosequartz Fri 16-Jan-15 22:32:49

Happy birthday!
I'll sing 'Let it Snow' instead of Happy birthday grin

Maggiemaybe Fri 16-Jan-15 22:18:34

Yes, we've had quite a bit of snow today. I'm feeling smug as it's my birthday, my mother was snowed in on the day I was born, and I like to claim that it always snows on my birthday. I actually sulked a bit last year when it didn't! grin

rosequartz Fri 16-Jan-15 22:05:44

Not right here, but just looked out and the lawn looks very sparkly and frosty.
We were in Herefordshire today and noticed more floods than snow (the River Wye had burst its banks in places).

Mishap Fri 16-Jan-15 22:01:49

We had snow here on the edge of the Welsh hills yesterday. A neighbour skidded down the lane into our wall.

granjura Fri 16-Jan-15 22:00:26

Yes ;) about time

Sewsilver Fri 16-Jan-15 21:54:38

A few flurries here today and there is snow on top of the hills. I'm really hoping we don't get any more as I have been stuck in the house twice in the last month because of snow.

Nonu Fri 16-Jan-15 21:44:34

Here in East Anglia, no snow, and none expected.
,
I read at the latter part of last year we will as a whole have more rain than snow .
