Afternoon tv is bad.....but the ads!!!

We like to watch Bargain Hunt whilst we have lunch too.

We have Bargain Hunt on while we have lunch and record Father Brown for evenings when it's all rubbish (especially Saturdays).

I like Doctors. It's on at 1.45 on BBC 1. Also never miss Deal or no Deal at 4pm on Channel 4. It's a real people show. You get to know them and care about them. Noel Edmunds is a great host.

I think Judge Rinder is marmite TV lol.

I really love Father Brown. I don't care how anachronistic and unlike the books it is -It's just fun to watch.

I often catch a bit of Nothing to Declare vampire I just love the shed loads of food the chinese try to bring in - and they're always so amazed when they're caught! And the stuff just looks so revoltingly inedible!

When in desperation I have sometimes turned to afternoon TV, I have been made incandescent by the adverts, which all seem to feature funeral plans or emotionally manipulative charity ads. I have a very tender hearted, but impecunious neighbour who is also a pensioner. It turned out she was sending a considerable sum of money each month to distressed donkeys, water aid and so on. These charities may be worthy causes but I don't like the way they ask for money.

I am afraid afternoon TV is a great big NO_NO for me I would rather shoot myself in the left tit foot.

Is Judge Rinder actually real?
I watched about 3 minutes and that was it..... (sorry vampirequeen) I presume he's trying to be a UK version of Judge Judy (who I like).
That dog and the blue rabbit is lovely, and I like the SMA follow on baby milk ones too.

What is Judge Rinder ? it sounds like an instrument of torture.

I must admit to being hooked on Judge Rinder. In fact as DH has to go to work half way through it we record it and watch it together later in the evening.

Have a look at the other Freeview channels. Watch out for Anything to Declare. It's about customs and immigration in Australia. I don't know if it's meant to be but at times it's hysterically funny esp. when people are trying to smuggle food in and get caught. The excuses they come up with are brilliant.

Do you have access to TV on demand. I often find programmes on there that I've missed.

As for adverts I can't stand the no win no fee adverts but I love the one with the dog and his blue rabbit friend. No idea what it's advertising but it always makes me laugh.

Far from responding to these adverts they put some people off.

DD works shifts and quite often relaxes in front of daytime tv. She found the ambulance chasing compensation adverts so offensive that when she was seriously injured in an accident that has left her permanently, but thankfully mildly, disabled, she, at first, refused point blank to make a claim for compensation because she didn't want to be classed with the kind of person who responded to these ads with, what she considered, spurious claims.

Thankfully, as she realised the extent and ramifications of her disability and when we found a local solicitor who could handle the case and understand her sensitivity, she did finally make a claim, but other people could be put off claiming at all because the adverts make their skin crawl.

Countdown and Pointless. I'm a bit of a quiz and word game addict. I can't stand the ITV offerings eg. The Chase, Tipping Point. I do enjoy Father Brown though.

I'm laid low with a chest infection and slopping to the kitchen to make yet another cup of tea is about all I can manage.

James Martin's Comfort Food is OK but I wish he'd stop going on about his Granny which he does in every episode. So she taught you a lot about cooking.....We know. Honestly, we really get it. Move on!!

But I do like the Skoda ads. during Broadchurch.

If I see the Gala Bingo one just one more time I won't be responsible for my actions..........and end up minus a TV!

I must admit I screeched at the tv
