We have done it before, shall we do it again?
Come on Ladies and pick up your pen,
A four line poem can be a bit fun,
That's my four lines, now I am done.

Wickedness can sometimes be witty
And fill us all with great glee
So write us another cute ditty
And let's have a good teeheehee

I'm a happy, chappy, try never to mope
but keeping it clean is a bit of a strain
and Ladies for you, with effort I'll cope.
Of wickedness and smut I will abstain

Max Miller was a funny man
Known as the Cheeky Chappy
He used to recite risque rhymes
It kept his audience happy.

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
They were so happy and jolly
I wonder how they would have felt
If all the leaves had been holly.

(My favourite Max Miller rhyme).

Charmer Pompa is for sure
A true gentleman as well
His wit and humour work to lure
Female GNs under his spell

vampirequeen Sat 10-Jan-15 20:36:26

But I'm not nice like Pompa
I like a bit of smut
Especially in the evening
When the drapes are shut.

vampirequeen Sat 10-Jan-15 20:27:11

Pompa's trying to keep it clean
He likes to keep folks happy
Especially the ladies here
He's such a polite chappy.

Bless! smile

Grace, hmm, I can do grace, see
dum de dum de dum de dum
de dum de de de dum
give me time and it will come, dee dee

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 20:12:20

No offence taken, just a little ditty
your rhyme I found to be sleek
and may I say, rather witty
and I'm number one for cheek

Dear Joy I thought the same
Nearly gave up in despair
But now my aching brain
Won't stop rhyming words in pairs
HELP!!!

JoyBloggs Sat 10-Jan-15 19:29:26

Here I sit in my cute little bonnet
Trying to pen a beautiful sonnet,
Might take me 'til June to write ten lines more,
So I'll give up now... having writ just four.

MrsPickle Sat 10-Jan-15 19:10:36

Pompa please, take no offence
(In case that donkey reappears)
Tis merely praise, yet tongue in cheek
For all the gransnet poeteers!

loopylou Sat 10-Jan-15 19:09:47

GN's poems make me smile
They're full of fun and wit
What gems to read, so bide a while
And see what they have writ.......

FarNorth Sat 10-Jan-15 18:53:09

pompa please, this ain't the place
We're looking for poems filled with grace
Elegance and serenity
As well as lots of dignity.

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 18:50:00

Pickle, what are you saying ?
How can I use words like myth
to someone with a lisp
seems you are taking the pith

MrsPickle Sat 10-Jan-15 18:35:51

Such wealth of talent here on grans
With much rhyming, pace and pith
We need our own antholo-gee
To show it's not an urban myth!

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 17:34:03

These words are not my own
someone has used them all before
second hand ones are all I can find
otherwise, gobbledygoop would ensue

Oops. Must remember the first rule of poems - they should rhyme blush

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 17:24:17

re-reading my post, it sounds as though I am accusing someone, I'm not. Just saying we should credit original authors. The Pam Ayers poem was correctly credited to her (which was why I knew it was hers)

KatyK Sat 10-Jan-15 17:06:23

Well mine have really been my own
I sat and wrote them all alone
If they were Pam's then I would say
I'm being dishonest right away

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 17:04:08

Thus :-

The boy stood on the burning deck
His lips were all a-quiver
He gave a cough, his leg fell off
And floated down the river.

Give credit where that credit's due
Clearly that's what we should do
If we didn't write those words so clever
We need to say "Not me, no, never"

Declare the author's name , I say
Announce it clearly right away
And just in case you didn't know
These are my own words - Honest Joe!

KatyK Sat 10-Jan-15 16:50:22

Has someone really stolen verse?
I can think of nothing worse
Than claiming that the words are new
When really they're not written by you

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 16:38:28

Looking back through the poems for inspiration. I notice that at least one is the work of Pam Ayers. No problem with posting others poems if they are interesting. But I do think we should credit the original author with their work.
