Do you always imagine absolutely thousands of people rushing to read your posts? Whereas, in fact, when you stop to think about it, that is no more likely to happen with your posts than with anyone else's. grin

Have I got a ridiculously over-inflated online ego? Or are we all the same?

Genuinely wondering! grin

Faye Mon 12-Jan-15 23:46:33

Jingle I think you must have an over inflated ego. grin I never think someone is rushing to see what I have posted. More likely some think there she goes again with her odd ideas.

I often read posts and really enjoy them but don't respond. Those who said no one reads their posts, I actually do and I am sure others do too. I have always liked new posters, otherwise threads would be very predictable.

One thing I dislike is a heading for a thread which gives no indication of the content.

Ana I agree.

I just saw jings post. grin grin grin

You've sussed their secret, Wheniwasyourage.

Wheniwasyourage Fri 09-Jan-15 10:04:10

That's because she doesn't exist. GNHQ just put in something purporting to be from her when they think a thread is going stale or they just want to stir things up a bit.

rubylady Fri 09-Jan-15 02:55:39

Crafting I've never been to Soop's kitchen, I'll have to pop along soon and see what happens. smile

Did someone mention someone called Jings? I've never heard of her. confused

flowers grin

annodomini Thu 08-Jan-15 21:35:20

I've seen that or something very similar on Facebook, pompa.

Crafting Thu 08-Jan-15 20:40:41

Juliette do pop into Soop's kitchen soon. As Nellie said, I am in there most days scoffing everything in sight. I usually stay for buckets of wine a nice cup of tea and a chat. No need to bring anything you'd better not turn up without a nice big cupcake . You will be most welcome grin

Juliette Thu 08-Jan-15 20:20:17

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and welcome . I will try and put into practice all that you have said , taking note especially of jings comment. Hope to see you all around and about. cupcake brew wine and flowers

I do the occasional bit as a free lance proof reader pompa and rather worryingly I could understand every bit of your post! (AND I "speed read")

rosequartz Thu 08-Jan-15 18:12:49

I read it very quickly, pompa which probably means I have a very jumbled mind!

newist Thu 08-Jan-15 18:05:09

I read every word, I just scan them

pompa Thu 08-Jan-15 17:56:39

This just goes to prove that spelling is superfluous

Juliette Don't worry too much about writing style. I had to retake O level English, largely, as I found out some 30yrs later, due to dyslexia.
I am still not good at punctuation and the finer details of grammar.

Just join in, come into Soops kitchen its a good place.

Crafting seems to have wandered in when she first appeared on GN and has never left. I think she is parked in a corner some where and just pops up when anyone has made some fresh toast and coffee wink

Welcome and enjoy!

There was once a suggestion that new members should only be allowed to post about puppies, kittens and the general loveliness of life for a probationary period.................................

rosequartz Thu 08-Jan-15 17:33:50

No, let me, I am good at it wink

I find a lot of people tend not to agree with me so I am not in a 'clique'.

However, soop's is lovely - even better if you bring some cupcake lol. I didn't realise it was started after some controversy (missed all that).

I am only still learning this tab and have sometimes posted things without checking 132 times then read them after posting and thought 'oops'.

soontobe Thu 08-Jan-15 17:20:17

I will volunteer to be the the thread killer of this thread if it helps smile

Wheniwasyourage Thu 08-Jan-15 17:00:35

Yippee! Been out and now find that I didn't kill the thread this morning!

Ooops - hope that hasn't done it now hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 08-Jan-15 16:42:18

shock grin

annodomini Thu 08-Jan-15 16:41:07

Juliette, first rule of Gransnet: on no account take jingl seriously!

pompa Thu 08-Jan-15 16:24:13

Best advice, Ignore everything Jing says except for the wine and cupcake

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 08-Jan-15 15:59:16

Juliette of course you must be very careful when you post anything. You must preview at least three times, and then count to at least 132. Make sure you are not saying anything in the least bit inflammatory. Do not diss the site itself (hanging offence). Do not put any possible advertisers' noses out of joint.

Once you have checked all that, you can post. To be on the safe side add three kisses, some flowers, a glass of wine, and a cupcake. You should be alright then.

In fact, you will be just like me. smile

Grannyknot Thu 08-Jan-15 14:45:30

juliette we were all new once, dipping toes in the water. Leap in! smile

As for the pedants, I just think, well that's what they are. Pedants. So let them be pedantic.

I used to be (a bit) pedantic but chucked it all out the window when predictive text and other such fun new inventions continually trumped my attempts at correcting apostrophes. Life's too short! Or should that be lifes too short grin?

I still think kids should be taught properly in schools though.

Welcome, anyway.

pompa Thu 08-Jan-15 14:34:48

sorry crossed posts, at least we agree smile

kittylester Thu 08-Jan-15 14:16:14

I just said that *pompa!! grin
