Yes, maybe DBH will stop dropping hints about separate bedrooms now!
So cross, my poor dried up pots….

Here we are again...happy as can be...all good pals and jolly good company. Slainte!
Yes, maybe DBH will stop dropping hints about separate bedrooms now!
That's good news janer about the cough.
Scones sound wonderful.
DS has just made a batch of millies' -style cookies, I found them SO sweet I could only manage one bite. Which is a good thing. I'd far rather have a scone.
He has to cook at least one main meal a week when he is at home, and this holiday he has chosen to make soups for our lunches. Last week we were living on carrot and coriander al week, this week we are living on spicy butternut squash soup, and he made rolls last week and today the biscuits. It's good to know he won't starve or be afraid to try out recipes when he leaves home eventually.
And the coughing has finally stopped! Hurray! It didn't even go into a gradual decline, it just didn't happen this morning.
Got the Lurpak and extra brandy. Heard you loud and clear
coffee for one coming up!
Forgot the Lurpak!
Pass the coffee Agus, we could always put a dash of brandy in it did I say that out loud?
Perfect Lona. Somehow, you read my thoughts. Today, I am fed up being fed up so I don't even care how many calories are in the scones and if it's not too greedy, I will have two, switch my head off and join you in the kitchen. Sigh, feel better already.
Hello all, I've brought us a totally calorie free, batch of fruit scones, along with some jam and fresh cream, because I think we need cheering up!
Coffee is freshly made, and the tea is in the china pot.
I'm fed up with being fed up!
When I read all the 'stuff' that some of us lot are having to deal with, it makes me feel humble and makes me also count my blessings.
So here's some

Oh yes. I remember well trying to sort all the boxes and drawers of paperwork - dreadful as he was a writer. Also when you have divorced parents you get two goes at it, I still have my mother's to come. However the relief that he was being cared for was great - until he ran away from his home! Which is rather a long story and not for this thread. However, my father was a law unto himself so don't go worrying that your dad will run away to Belgium!
In the meantime, I was a bit worried that flowerofthewest hadn't been on, and knew she was in contact with newist. She has had rather a busy and fraught time with various family problems, but is fine, although she thinks newist may be out of contact because of weather.
Oh bother, I have to be at work at 04.00 and I can't sleep. My busy brain won't let me. I have too much to think about. My Dad is going into a Care Home on Wednesday and I can't stop thinking about it. It will be a relief not to have to worry about his safety, but I began to think about selling his house and all the clearing out we will have to do. Now sleep is becoming more elusive, and I can't go back to bed when I come home in the morning as I have to take the dog to the grooming parlour. Why, oh why is life so complicated. No answers or replies needed. Thanks for being there. I know lots of you have been there.
I know that we on GN have a lot in common but this is ridiculous. I got up this morning to no water.
We have no immediate neighbours to check with,I tried phoning a couple of others, all have boreholes. Eventually found a friend on the same link and she had no water either. I've been out most of the day, when I came back still no water and now the other side of the main road hasn't either. The water board are 'working on it'. No warning and no idea when it will come back on.
The internet is playing up but so far the electricity is still on.
I probably shouldn't have said that.
Soutra Thank you for the flowers, I think you deserve some too.
I hope your husband is recovering well and will be home soon. I was only saying earlier to a friend, how tiring just visiting some one in hospital is. Of course you are worried about the sick person as well and you have been battling with A and E as well as that. Add time spent fielding enquiries and on the phone and it's not surprising that you feel drained. At least I knew DH was going in and had planned easy meals and not much shopping. I could have done without my own little adventure but I'd had a big clear up that morning and it has stayed tidy.
Bella love and (((hugs)))
jane your post made me wince and then laugh at your dentist's comment. Then I remembered that I'd got some chocolate in the fridge...
kitty Your mum is a real "trooper"...
jane My goodness, you must be so fed up with the problem that you're having with your jaw. I have never heard of someone with this condition. Lots of love - and we all hope that you will be back to your normal self just as soon as possible.
I am quite in awe of your Mother now kitty. Honestly never thought to hear she was sitting in the lounge, never mind giving anybody 'what for'!!
Bella. Lots of supportive ((((hugs))))
Soutra. All housework has to be put on hold. The priority is yourself and DH. Could you possibly send your ironing out occasionally, buy in some ready meals. Thank goodness we don't think too much or know what is ahead for many of us.
janer (((hugs))) for you too.
I've missed your posts soutra but just do as you are told - ie nothing except looking after yourself and DH.
Now, I'm off to look at Bed Blocking!
Lots of love to Bella - she is going through the wars!
After I've looked at be blocking, I'm going to visit mum - wish me luck. I said on the Good Morning thread that she should be renamed Lazarus as she is now sitting in the lounge giving them all 'what for'.
My male dentist had told me that it was because I talked too much. Not true.
Thank you for concern re jaw, but sadly it's not a new thing and cannot be fixed. All I can do is manipulate it back into position myself (now I have been taught how to) and wait for the pain to subside. Day three now and it isn't as sore. I have to live on soup and pasta and suck chunks of chocolate to console myself until it does. Also try not to yawn or open my mouth wide for any reason. I have problems with my ligaments all over my body, which is why it happens. My ligaments and tendons are older than I am apparently. The last time I saw a specialist I was told that nothing could be done for my jaw.
Oh dear I hadn't read right through the last week and send special
to * dusty* - what a dreadful experience. And Bellasnana sounds as if they might be in the wars too so more
and to anybody I have missed. When you are young(er) you never think of all these things but goodness, how much do some people have to cope with!! It says something for our fortitude/bl**dy mindedness/strength of will.
"I am strong, I am woman!"
Oh dear, Charleygirl I've been cursing the computer. Now, of course, the penny has dropped. Gaga get yourself "blued" ASAP
soop we will not be able to see photos of Gagagran's darlings because she is not "blued".
I have had another look at Rory's last photo- I am certain that cat is only awake at feeding time.
Gaga I cannot access your profile page to view a photo of pussy cats. Have you posted one yet?
Soutra Wise words from your Gransnet pals. "Stuff" can wait. The most important thing is for you to keep well. Stress is a bummer. You are bound to feel zapped. When you can, put your feet up and rest in order to recharge your batteries. In spirit, us lot are here for you.
Gaga I've just this moment read your message. I'm absolutely thrilled for you. It's true that animals can complete a family. Your joy shines through. I shall take a look at the photo when I've finished messaging. I'm a little on edge. We've had two short-lived power cuts. I would hate not to be able to say good morning to all my special kitcheners
I've had a private message from our Bella. She has a catalogue of issues which she is doing her utmost to cope with. She sends her love and I have sent love from us lot.
Soutra Of course you can't concentrate on unimportant stuff like the ironing, supporting your dh takes priority.
So be kind to yourself, and visit the kitchen here for
and
and lots of (((hugs)))
Soutra Stop worrying about the ironing, just roll it up neatly and for many things the creases drop out.
Keep the place just clean enough to be hygienic, and rest when you can. It's no good you knocking yourself with the caring duties you have.
.
Be gentle with yourself, soutra. It is exhausting when someone close is ill. Energy is required for all sorts of extra things that you don't usually need to do or think about. Sod the ironing and the tidying up, eat easy meals, and rest whenever you can. You need it.
Hoping that the kitchen and all within it are keeping safe from harm. I don't seem to make it as often as I would like -this weekend, nay, this WEEK has been fraught ( see my "bed blocking" posts) but DH has now had all 4 units of blood albeit on Saturday and Sunday evening/night instead of Friday evening and Saturday so now he just has to wait presumably for blood tests to see if his Hb is acceptable and for a doctor to discharge him. Is it any wonder there are no hospital beds?
I find myself incapable of getting on with things in these situations-cooking to do, ironing mounting up, tidying but partly I feel so drained by it and partly I seem to spend so much time on the phone!! Not to mention visiting each afternoon and then back in the evening.
You all have your own problems so don't take too much notice of my moaning. - Could be a lot worse!
