mrsmopp Tue 30-Dec-14 17:38:11

I chose mrsmopp because i have a mop of thick, naturally curly hair which has a will of its own.
Not because my occupation was a cleaning lady, as in: "Can I do you now, sir?" That wasn't me!

I agree about ninathenana. I always read it as Nina Athena and picture her as a tall, willowy Greek goddess.

Dustyangel I always see as a sort of Christmas fairy who flits about on a night dusting the higher reaches of the ceiling.

Soutra...sorry I put Karma in front of it and think of you as a slender, Indian maiden with long black hair and large almond eyes.

Daisyanswerdo...makes me think of Little Weed gently controlling the running of the house and garden.

Pompa....sorry I see you as Lurkio from Up Pompeii

In fact I have mental images of all of you

^^ chose not choose (sp) keyboard got a mind of it's own to-day.

glammanana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:14:41

Mine has always been the same since joining when GN started ,I choose it because that is what my two eldest DGSs started calling me,when they first started talking I was called "Gamma" as they couldn't sound their "r's" so as they got older my DD evolved it to Glamma as I was always in a business suit & heels when I arrived to pick them up from nursery on my way home from work.Plus I do happen to like the blingy things in life so it suits me.

Wasit "twa craws (sat upon a wall)" crow??
My username refers back to our part of Scotland in my childhood.

I love your name dustyangel tchsmile Yes I have mental images of all posters on here.

dustyangel Wed 31-Dec-14 12:06:35

Have been.

Lovely storey vampireqween, well done.
I chose mine after trying various combinations of my email address. By luck I chose a name I feel comfortable with and I like the abbreviations of it as well I been on GN for about two years.

I thought Anya was someone else as well, well I suppose she might be as well if you see what I mean. tchgrin
Does anyone else have a mental image from some names? I know how ninathenana should be pronounced but my brain thinks of Nina Athena, so I imagine an elegant Greek lady. tchsmile

Daisyanswerdo Wed 31-Dec-14 12:05:58

It just came into my head when I joined. I'm not sure it's very good because it seems to be demanding an answer, and I didn't mean that.

FlicketyB Wed 31-Dec-14 11:59:05

It started when I was trying to set up a google account. Everything username I thought of was already spoken for so eventually I put in the name of my favourite childhood doll - and it was accepted. Since then I have continued to use it as a nom-de-internet.

Crow Wed 31-Dec-14 11:22:20

I had to change my name this year from the original one when I joined right at the beginning.
I chose Crow because it was a nickname when I was a brownie, due to the fact that my friend and I used to repeat a silly poem about a crow.
Hope that makes sense.

I put mine down in a hurry as I really wanted to post on a thread I`d read while lurking and didn't really give much thought to it. Its so boring though!! How do you go about changing it?

Teetime Wed 31-Dec-14 10:27:16

chocolatepudding do not venture into Soops kitchen you will be eaten grin

This is a great thread. Nice to find out a bit more about other GNetters. Wonderful story vampirequeen sounds as though you are well rid of your ex.

pompa Wed 31-Dec-14 10:13:30

Err, it's my name.

chocolatepudding Wed 31-Dec-14 10:06:27

I have a sweet tooth -- need I say more?

petallus Wed 31-Dec-14 09:46:23

I chose mine in a hurry, not expecting to stay on GN for long but I wanted to comment on something. I thought petal would be nice and sort of pinky Springlike but it had gone. Then I tried petally and it had also gone so I moved on to petallus which seems vaguely Latin and a bit starchy.

If I was chosing again I'd go for blossom.

NfkDumpling Wed 31-Dec-14 09:01:56

I love you vampirequeen – you are truly amazing.

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 06:50:15

I use vampirequeen on other forums too. When I was with ex I joined a mental health support group using a family nickname. I used the group to vent and had several threads including one called 'One hundred things I hate about my husband but am too scared to say'. Number one was 'I hate the way you breathe' lol. Anyway to cut a long story short my ex hacked my desktop, read my posts and, after I left him, joined the forum pretending to be a woman. He then printed off my posts and threatened to send them to my mum, my employer and anyone else he could think of.

The moderators blocked his isp and deleted all my posts. I was going to leave but I needed their support. Also he had cut me off from everyone in the real world when we were married and I was buggered if he was going to control me after I'd escaped. So me and a druggie, cross dressing schizophrenic (he was lovely) chose a name that we thought ex would never link to me. As I was a very conservatively dressed, middle aged, Catholic school teacher we chose vampirequeen.

Oddly over the years I have grown into my name, mainly during my Jezebel period. Now I can't imagine being anyone else lol.

CeeCee Wed 31-Dec-14 00:50:44

Chosen because when I was going through a difficult time my friend called me CC short for crabby cow. I probably was a tad difficult back then, I'm much nicer now (I think) tchblush
