Why did you choose your username?

mrsmopp Tue 30-Dec-14 17:38:11

I chose mrsmopp because i have a mop of thick, naturally curly hair which has a will of its own.
Not because my occupation was a cleaning lady, as in: "Can I do you now, sir?" That wasn't me!

grumppa Wed 31-Dec-14 21:35:58

Because I had become known (unjustly, I stoutly maintain) as The Christmas Grump. It is only my Gransnet name; DGCs call me Grandpa.

bikergran Wed 31-Dec-14 21:23:01

Cos I rides a Motorcycle (when I get chance)

thatbags Wed 31-Dec-14 21:12:14

Because I always bag the crust off the new loaf.

And quite often I wear baggy trousers. My husband thinks I was born in baggy trousers.

Crow Wed 31-Dec-14 20:46:13

soutra, no not that one, it was something like
"twoo said the owl twoo said his wife, that crow down below leads a lonely life
a bachelor he is a bachelor he'll die, why doesn't he get married I can't think why?"
For some reason we eight year olds thought this hysterically funny and repeated it ad nauseum.
I am now 73 so you know how long ago that was!!!!!
I know where you are!!!

Agus Wed 31-Dec-14 20:36:16

whitewave. I like snippets of information as you have just given us. I will probably think of you as Guinavere now though smile

Thistledoo Wed 31-Dec-14 20:28:16

Wanted something Scottish so chose Thistle, asked DH what he thought and he said that'll do. So I added the doo, Thistledoo was born!!

whitewave Wed 31-Dec-14 20:04:32

It's a bit convoluted, but I am Cornish and the anglicized version of my Cornish name is Guinavere and means whitewave in Cornish.

Purpledaffodil Wed 31-Dec-14 19:43:02

The origin of mine is very dull, I had a user name constructed for me by another site, cannot even remember which. It asked for favourite colour and favourite flower. Am partial to purple but indifferent to daffodils, so it must have been spring at the time. I didn't realise when I joined GN how significant my user name was going to be! Vampirequeen I just love your story. And I had always imagined you as a hippie, long haired Eleanor Bron type. tchgrin

yogagran Wed 31-Dec-14 19:37:29

I've been around since GN was born. I'd just got home from a yoga class so my name seemed logical then. A little confusing now as there's also a yogagirl too

Dragonfly1 Wed 31-Dec-14 18:43:29

In memory of my beautiful late daughter.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 31-Dec-14 18:43:02

Some of you have really thought this through! I joined back in 2011, took ages to think of something and ended up with this because I keep finding myself saying it to people younger an me (which is most of the population nowadays). Just wish I had more imagination.

Sorry, Soutra, I too have had THAT BOOK brought to mind by your name blush As for anniezzzo9, I think of you as buzzing around (like a bee) and getting a lot done.

Gracesgran Wed 31-Dec-14 18:39:12

Guess smile. I should upgrade it now as I have an additional grandchild but it still applies, of course.

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 18:08:18

Well I do like fur although I don't own any but I stroke it a lot when I find it on vintage stalls lol.

loopylou Wed 31-Dec-14 18:01:30

Fascinating how names conjure up images:
Lilygran to me is elegant and exotic
Vampirequeen I'm afraid I imagine you looking like a kinder version of Cruella de Ville
Elegran and Glammanana - two very glamorous and ageless beauties
Soutra definitely as Vampirequeen says
Dustyangel somehow conjures up the Deep South.....
Would love to see photos just to find out how wrong I am!

Lilygran Wed 31-Dec-14 17:49:01

anno grin

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 17:48:46

Oh glammanana you could not be further from the truth lol.

annodomini Wed 31-Dec-14 17:32:54

Lilygran - almost an anagram of angrily. I hope not!

anniezzz09 Wed 31-Dec-14 17:32:08

I can't totally remember but either all the usernames I thought of were taken so in exasperation I added zzz09 or I think the system might have offered me that username (is that likely?).

I'd quite like to change it and drop the zzz09 so if anyone ever replies to or refers to me, please feel free to call me annie!

Ana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:49:42

I once revised my whole opinion of a member and her posts, having pictured her a certain way, when I saw her photo!

Soutra Wed 31-Dec-14 16:48:42

Well some people's minds........!

Anya Wed 31-Dec-14 16:47:16

Whenever I see soutra's name I always think Karma Sutra shock

Lilygran Wed 31-Dec-14 16:31:37

Sort of anagram. There used to be a website which would make anagrams out of any word you gave it. Hours of innocent fun!

glammanana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:30:18

Vampirequeen I visualise you as a Kate Bush lookalike tall and black flowing hair,Soutra calm and comforting and full of wisdom,so many images to think about I really must make the effort this year to do a meet up and put faces to names at long last.

KatyK Wed 31-Dec-14 16:28:18

Some of us have profile pictures and if I sneak a peak they are never as I imagined tchsmile

Riverwalk Wed 31-Dec-14 16:25:19
