DH and I have ended up spending Christmas with a couple we met in a hotel last year. We'd planned to meet again at the same hotel, but the rates were extortionately high. However, the couple asked us to stay with them for Xmas instead. I don't really like staying with other people, but because we were obviously free at the time, we couldn't think of an excuse not to join them, quickly enough. We came yesterday - and it's quite dire! The house is stiflingly hot. Not a lot of conversation, other than the 5 years they lived in China and how kind they were to the poor people there. The chap doesn't like this person or that person....does like shooting grouse/pheasant, squirrels etc (we hate blood sports of Amy kind) and we've discovered he's very opinionated, while his wife nods off a lot (no wonder). Before we came we'd been persuaded to stay for 3 days. I need an escape route - please help!!
