Just had OJ and smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Going to sing carols at 11.30am with a few of my fellow choir members at a community lunch for those alone or lonely at Christmas. We will have our Christmas meal late afternoon with candles - just the two of us this year.

May all your days be happy ones. xx wine Cheers!

Happy Christmas all. To my surprise I didn't wake up until l half past eight. Thunder and rain has spread down from Manchester. OH still in bed.

Dinner can be when I decide.
No more presents to open after doing Christmas last weekend.

I'm having my first power nap of the day (everything is under control).

Christmas in the Lakes just over. DD2 has done a brilliant job. Booths the Supermarket produced the goods and we've done justice to it.now ready to collapse. God bless us one and all.

Lovely if quiet day here. DH does not cope well with a change to his routine but a visit this morning from the youngest GC ( 5 and 3 ) was a real treat
for me and then we visited the "outlaws" ex DinL and our GD and their 2children to take presents and then home for a "normal" day. On the whole a very satisfactory day , so different to the past but times change and we must adapt.

Thank you letters written.
OH and I went to younger DD for lunch. When we got there noticed that his trousers had a mark on them as did his cardigan. Can't take him ANYWHERE.

Following my dental operation on Tuesday I have one side of my face looking like a hamster that is rapidly going bruised coloured. It's a great way to diet. I had tiny bit of Turkey half potato and a carrot and broccoli. Took ages to eat that much and it's the first solid food for two days. Even had difficulty with porridge this morning.

Just watched Call the Midwife, thoroughly enjoyed it but the script writer managed to get in every supposed evil of the 1950's possible.

The best part of my sub-tropical Christmas for me was having all my (Australian) family around us, and all our friends, sharing the traditional meal I cooked for them all. Lots of laughs and hugs, and they all loved the dinner (2 large free-range chickens stuffed with sage and onion stuffing, ham, brussels, carrots, broccoli and roast spuds, followed by a beautiful cherry pie made by DiL Lindy. My traditional trifle went wrong - the sugar-free jelly (DH diabetic) refused to set and the light cream - the only cream left in the shop - refused to stiffen. Loads of food left over of course.

Got up this morning and our naughty but nice 1 year old kitten had knocked over the tree. Such is life - it was easy to stand up again.

A few slightly different presents: I gave DH a remote control helicopter, 'cos he never has fun and this will make him go out into the back garden and damn well play with the thing.

A sexy fireman calendar for my lesbian neighbour and friend: strange but true. She once told me that in spite of her orientation, she can really appreciate the sight of a well toned athletic gorgeous male body. We were shopping just before Christmas and the firies were selling their sexy calendar as a fundraiser. I bought one, and wondered which of the girls I should give it to, then I remembered...

And from son David to me - a Dalek mug as a stocking filler, and a trip to Bunnings hardware and gardening store to buy whatever and as much as I want.

Boxing day morning and I'm wondering if DH will notice if I nick some of his Christmas rum to spice up my morning coffee,,,,

Joan Thu 25-Dec-14 22:24:32

PS
He'd hidden the rum - but I found it in the end. Coffee with cream (the stuff that refused to stiffen for my trifle) and a drop or three of rum.
Well, it's only once a year...well twice when you include his birthday rum.
