Higher State Pension Age

Reading the article 'Inside Britain's Grandparent Army' the theme of a lot of comments was that although most of us very much enjoy looking after our grandchildren whilst parents work, it is very tiring as we get older. One contributor mentioned that when they hit 60 they started to find themselves getting very tired. This is a fact for many of us and it hit me that my daughter is going to have to work until she is 68 before she gets her state and work pension. She is a paramedic and often works 4 continuous (day or night) 12 hour shifts, she carries a bag to every job (often upstairs) which is the weight of a small child and lifts and carries people all the time. Can those of us who are, or nearly are, 68 possibly imagine doing such a physical job at that age. And when it comes to Britain's Grandparent Army, who will be looking after her grandchildren - it won't be her as she will still be working.
