I didn't think that Edwina Curry was seriously lusting after the young guy... I assumed it was all a bit of banter and craic not to be taken seriously - and working for the cameras.

grannytwice I agree with you this woman has always been monstrous but she was right about the eggs.

Because she was annoyed he hadn't mentioned his affair with her in his autobiography, presumably because he didn't want to upset his wife. Very kind of her to drag it all up years later.

I don't like her politics but used to think she was mildly amusing until I heard her on a phone in. The lady who telephoned was saying how difficult she was finding it to manage financially and EC proceeded to interrogate her in quite an aggressive way as to whether she had a pet (if so, get rid of it), a flat screen TV (horror of horrors, she did - much tutting ensued), satellite TV (she didn't), was she a smoker? (no), did she buy takeaways (no) etc., etc. Ghastly.

The problem is that its Edwina - she's Marmite isn't she? I find her self centred, smug, opinionated, full of herself and goodness knows why she had to go public on her affair with JM

The latest Bond girl is 50. Not that that has got anything to do with it, just thought I would drop it in.

I suppose the question is whether this is appropriate behaviour on the programme - regardless of age or sex. Not being an aficionado, I can't answer the question.

I mean, I can't really imagine Michael Buerk or Helen Mirren behaving inappropriately in any context. If they wanted to lust after anyone, I'm sure neither of them would do it in public.
So it's nothing to do with Edwina Currie's age, simply that she herself is given to inappropriate behaviour.
Of course, if lusting after people is the norm on the programme, then there's nothing wrong with Edwina doing it.

Edwina lives and dies by the media; she has been manipulating it for as long as I can remember. When she was our MP heaven help an event that she attended that didn't have full press coverage, and she was pretty rude to people if that wasn't the case. My problem with her is the fact that she thinks that she is so sexy and attractive; if she was someone that didn't take herself so seriously it wouldn't be so bad. Anyway; she's done this to get the publicity she craves and, by even mentioning her I'm falling for it .

I'm no fan of Edwina Currie but it's yet another case of 'going for the person'.

If this was Helen Mirren or Judy Dench and not Edwina Currie the sister hood and press would be loving it.

A load of old cods wallop usually started in the press, picked up by the public, who probably haven't even watched the program to see how totally innocuous her comments have been.

Even on GN there will have been threads that get really annoyed at 'sexism' ,'ageism' . What is so wrong in an older woman enjoying life in her 60's or 100.

Jane - yes, it's 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' basically, Edwina is lusting after a young male celeb when really she should be sitting in the background making placemats out of twigs - because she is over 60 !

I don't know enough about her to like or dislike her but can't see the problem if she wants to talk about sex and (shock horror) still finds men attractive. Good for her I say.

Haha. I've just been listening in the car to a programme on Radio 4 about gossip, celebrity and otherwise, and how it has both positive and negative impacts on our lives, and how gossip has a part to play in setting standards.

As a non-celebrity follower, I'm just guessing this has something to do with Im a Celebrity, Get Me Out of here.
But will someone please enlighten me as to what the egregious Edwina has done or said? please?

No she is not too old to be talking about sex. No-one is ever too old to talk about sex (in moderation). Happy sex is good for our health and it is life enhancing. Please pass on a bouquet from me to everyone over 60 who still has a health interest in sex. and more.

If it was, say, Michael Buerk standing obviously lusting after one of the young females then all hell would be let loose amongst the feminist community!
But apparently it's fine for older women to openly lust after younger men.

I've never read (and never considered reading) her books, but I understand that they are pretty raunchy, though I suppose that, since 'Fifty Shades', they have been made to seem rather tame.

She`s quite funny though. Don't forget how sharply edited the bit that we see is. Out of 24 hour filming they must really pick and choose juicy bits. Its good that its not all about the shallow young crowd. I would have lost interest if it was just them.
