Limerick writing Mark 4 (animal, vegetable and mineral)

I'm putting up my brolly

The rain's coming down on my pot!

The emeralds are hidden in the cave.

The one where the elves misbehave

Stalactites dangle

At an awkward angle

And are snapped off by an elf - the knave!

The sun is setting in a ruby sky.

Skeins of geese are flying on high

Squirrels laying in their dray

Sightless moles hunt down their prey

The jet black sky is drawing high.

Paddington Bear is a lovely fellow.

He crossed The Pond and now eats jello

Golden marmalade on his bread.

Hope fame doesn't go to his head

Will he say, "Hi there" or just "Hello"?

Is he a Yank now, through and through?

No he's British now, I tell you.

So London is still home

Although he likes to roam

And sometimes goes back to Peru
