The water table here in this bit of East Sussex is only 2cm or in proper money 1 inch below the surface. My clothes pole hole is up to the top with water.
Feel very sorry for people in Canada and USA that have the terrible weather but they are better prepared than here and the snow is drier.

Good grief it seems like a repetition of last year which may mean of course all those dreadful storms winging their way over to us and floods! I was thinking today that the water table must be pretty high in the UK

I have friends in Illinois and Chicago they have had snow, ice and freezing conditions they tell me its more than a month earlier than they have had it before.. Its more like January conditions for them..

I hope they are all ok in the atrocious weather they're having.
