boring days

Its a fact of life. Sometimes we do feel bored with the same old daytime routine. but looking on the bright side, boredom comes before creativity
(a fact overlooked by a lot of parents). Not everyone needs more people some need a fulfilling hobby or a course of study.
Try an evening course and you might end up learning something and meeting like minded people.
I often feel bored in company but all my life I have been learning something. Creative writing was lovely, and bit by bit I got something down on paper.

I stumbled into this thread by accident and just wanted to say how it is so good to see people helping others find information and offering support. Hope you find what you are looking for soon goodygoody and welcome to Gransnet.

Hallo goodygoody and welcome. I joined Gransnet only a few weeks ago and am so glad I found it.
I was in a similar to position to you in that after retirement my husband seemed content to potter around the house and garden and was not interested in days out so I signed up for some of the activities above (Council classes etc.) but as a non driver missed getting further afield. A friend was in the same position and we had regular outings arranged by our local coach company. We visited lots of interesting places.
I have had a health problem which makes things a little difficult now but with Gransnet I feel part of the wider world.

Such a lot going on in the Brighton and Hove area, you should be able to find something that interests you. Do you enjoy walking, the South Downs is a beautiful place to walk. There's a good theatre in Brighton - oh, so much around this area that I really don't know where to start.

There is A LOT going on in Brighton and Hove, just as there is in all cities, so you will find plenty to make your days less boring if you take a look around.

In five minutes by googling "Brighton and Hove adult classes" I found this "Directory of Adult Learning Providers & Courses" It has providers with hundreds of courses, in all kinds of subjects and at all different levels. Joining a course means you meet other people in a similar position to yourself, and can plan to meet up for a coffee with those you find good company.

Do you have a garden? Maybe you could redesign it with help from a local gardening group? Gardeners are usually very friendly people, keen to share their gardening tips and spare plants.

Also, if you search Clubs and Groups in Hove, some entries come up, including a book group.

What about an adult education class in something you're interested in?

Beanstalk are always looking for volunteers to read with individual children in school - it's very satisfying to see children's increasing enjoyment and confidence in reading .

Welcome goodygoody I am sure you can spend a while on here finding all sorts of ideas to while away the day's,can you not help at a Charity Shop or such I do it every week and find I meet all kinds of new people to chat to,there are also classes of all discriptions available through your Councils website I'm sure which may interest you some held during the afternoons I would imagine,best of luck to you and keep posting on here to keep us up dated and joining in on conversations.

Welcome goodygoody - like yourself I am new to Gransnet but finding it lots of fun - sometimes I just read a thread and sometimes I will post. As hildajenniJ said it is very easy to spend ages on here.

You could try your local library to see if there are any U3A activities in your area - I know of some people who have made really good friends through U3A. If you have a Further Education college near you they might have leisure courses available or you could even learn a new skill.

goodygoody there is so much good you could do in any area. Why not have a chat with your local Voluntary Service group (ask at the Library for detauls) you will soon find yourself very busy indeed? Your husband can sort himself out. Meanwhile lots to chat about on here.

Welcome to GN goodygoody. My family all live away and my DH works from three in the afternoon until ten at night so I am alone for most of the day. I live in Northumberland so can't advise about Hove. I've met lots of lovely people here though, and can wile away many a happy hour chatting.
