Can't comment on the ad you mention as I haven't seen it yet. I was pretty staggered to receive an email from Tesco, excitedly informing me that it contained a preview of their Christmas ad!!! Needless to say, I deleted it immediately (without watching the ad of course). Why would they labour under the misapprehension that their customers would be that interested or concerned? I hate to have to tell you this, large retailers, but I, for one (and I suspect quite a few other people too) are deeply uninterested in your Christmas ads. The amount of money spent on them must be quite ridiculous and they have no effect whatsoever on my purchasing decisions.

I've bumped the JL Christmas ad thread, Geraldine, as all the current Christmas ads have been mentioned on it, although there's no reason why Sainsbury's ad shouldn't have its own thread of course!

https://www.youtube.com/user/Sainsburys,

I am playing devil's advocate here:

Like most people I have watched the advert, with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes at the history of the humanity of the Christmas Truce of WW1.

The Royal British Legion is to receive just 50p per chocolate bar sold.

The supermarket will make much more in other profits, it is no accident that a lot of their lines this year are retro inspired.

The commercialism of Christmas has sunk to an all time low for me, who is exploiting whom here?
