I have just scrolled down the Christmas book thingy and amazed at all the grans there. Most I have never heard of, come on secret grans love to hear from you on our chat line!!!

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:58:04

Glad I'm good for something!
Think I'm having a tea party day ( mad hatter's type, not American politics)

Gagagran Sat 15-Nov-14 14:57:34

I really think GNHQ should have some way of excluding all the one-post- compers from these prize draws. It seems really unfair to me that they see our forum as just a competition site to try and plunder.

Geraldine62 Sat 15-Nov-14 14:49:32

You are all so funny you make me laugh, it's like you're all sat around me in my office/study/spare bedroom (with no bed so no guests!, that'll stop them!)
Having you all here is kind of scary nearly as scary as that link you posted Jinglebellfrocks, (great name by the way)

Galen and Janerowena you should have a double act! or come on my radio show on a Friday morning https://www.facebook.com/nanasnatter
and join in the nonsense and musicals, show tunes and laughter with my and my resident guest nana netty, just wish she would learn or take part in social media too!

Anyway I ramble look forward to nattering with you all again soon smile

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 14:44:15

Some things people write aren't as clear as they think they are, as I have discovered. It's so easy to take things slightly wrongly, or phrase your thoughts badly.

I plan to exasperate DD at some point. I'm sure it's my turn.

alex57currie Sat 15-Nov-14 14:40:05

Matson Just let that go over your head. You'll find that other GN's will rally round. Call it healthy dialogue. It's refreshing to exchange ideas/opinions. These are for you flowers

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:34:57

hmm according to darling daughter!

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:34:18

Strangled her. She was a right pain in the a**e!grin

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 14:25:54

grin

You could always be a fake Galen.

What have you done with the real one?

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:20:28

I'm a real gran and Gransnetters, honest!

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 14:14:10

I was so relieved when Galen won, I have to admit.

That comping link is really quite scary.

annodomini Sat 15-Nov-14 14:08:09

Correction - I should have said that two of the winners of the said competition were regulars. The others? Not too sure.

annodomini Sat 15-Nov-14 14:04:46

Take heart, Crow, the winners of the Mason Cash bake-ware competition were both regular posters. It can happen!

merlotgran Sat 15-Nov-14 13:30:54

Crow has got a point. When you read the bookclub Q&A at the end of the month it's always the same Gransnetters who take part. You rarely see any of the 'invisible' members participating. hmm

matson Sat 15-Nov-14 13:25:00

Although I have been a member of gransnet for donkeys years and read the post most days, I stopped posting because of comments and people just so ready to " jump " on you. !

Crow Sat 15-Nov-14 11:14:53

I don't bother entering the competitions any more. At the beginning of Gransnet I used to receive the occasional free book, now with so many "new" members, I don't receive anything so I just don't enter.

alex57currie Sat 15-Nov-14 10:47:31

Just counted the threads I've been on-31 in the few weeks since joining. It's amazing how time flies when your'e having fun.

alex57currie Sat 15-Nov-14 10:32:15

Ana I am when you look at the zillions of threads lots of you have been on. But it is nice to be noticed. I'm one of these people who take a long time to settle in. I'm muffle muffle years old and I don't feel comfortable in my own skin. grin

Jane10 Sat 15-Nov-14 10:21:03

I do post but I also lurk sometimes. There are some such sad threads that I don't know what I could usefully say. I check regularly to see how the OP is doing. Other times topics are not necessarily ones that I know about so there`s no point in posting. I do check in every day and am so glad to know there`s such a positive, supportive online community. Maybe there are others like me?

Ana Fri 14-Nov-14 23:28:12

You're not that new, alex! You've posted on lots of threads smile

alex57currie Fri 14-Nov-14 23:16:25

Not Interested in xmas. But, I am a newbie. Not quite sure re etiquette etc. But looking forward to getting to know everybody on some sort of level.grin

Ana Fri 14-Nov-14 21:31:07

Yes, but they're the type of grans who spend every waking moment entering competitions...

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Nov-14 21:26:59

There might be a few grans amongst them.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Nov-14 21:26:35

Not likely to post on here anyway. hmm

NfkDumpling Fri 14-Nov-14 21:07:43

You mean they're not all proper Grans?!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Nov-14 21:06:19

It's a bit sad. Nothing is what it seems.
