It sounds as if it could be a crunchy/nutty/moreish type of confectionary. Whatever, I'd still like a wee sample.

As only the chocolate wrappers left - didn't take long for you lot to scoff those -have dashed home and made a batch of cheese scones, they're still warm .... don't eat them all at once........!

What a shambles, Galen. I do hope that the rest of the cruise made up for your friend's poor treatment. Thanks for the chocs. I may have made a pig of myself. To compensate, I am donating some of the rocky road that I've made to take to the family on Monday. Enjoy it, everyone! It's magic, so you can all have some.

I suspect people don't answer it truthfully

Galen I am aware that many cruise ships have had many problems in the past with outbreaks of diarrhoea and/or vomiting, caused by norovirus or whatever but that treatment of your friend Anne was rather OTT. As you said, it spoiled 1/3 of the cruise. The nurse was carrying on like a female Hitler. It begs the question as to what one writes on the form in future.

Flipping heck - what a shame, no wonder you are fed up.

However, as I know several people who have recently canceled cruises due to fear of Ebola and D&V- it is in a wqy re-assuring they are taking such great care O)...

Weather is awful here in the Jura mountains, and no snow in the huge majority of ski resorts. Grandkids arriving tomorrow from Surrey will be so disappointed. However, sunshine forecast for next few days, and then colder temps and snow- so hope they get a few days making snowmen.

Galen I'm lost for words. What a right b***'s-up...I think that you and your companion have been treated abysmally. Is that the correct spelling? Well, I'm sure that you know what it is I'm trying to say. As for having to drink Champagne from a tumbler...how uncivilised is that! Anyway, a warm welcome back to the 5* kitchen (of ours). When we've scoffed the chocs we'll all wait on you, and warm your slippers.

The telephone is OUT of ORDER. Once again MacS politely asked BT to check the line. Result - the fault lies with the local exchange. I don't believe it! I muttered under my breath. Yep, it was never "our fault" all along. We now have to wait for an engineer to deem our exchange important enough to leave home for and put matters to rights. Don't hold your breath.

MacS is a proper gent when it comes to reporting any matter that drives me almost totally doolally. I had to give him a big hug. He deserved it.

What an experience you have had. You don't expect that sort of thing on a luxury cruise it sounds more like a prison ship....not let out of the room without permission . Well you're safely back in the kitchen now, not a tumbler in sight. Only the best crystal for you from now on

Crikey! No wonder you're far from happy! I'd have thought communications would have been top notch on a cruise like that! And champagne out of tumblers adds insult to injury! Totally OTT, presumably Anne would have starved if you hadn't been there !

My friend Anne was joining me on Tuesday. On Sunday the old git cooked a very hot stir fry which gave Anne one loose motion. As a truthful person she ticked the have you had diarrhoea box on boarding.
She was immediately whisked into isolation and had to wait for half an hour until a doctor came.
He said she hadn't Noro ( no temperature, no vomiting or nausea) and they would let her board if she kept to the cabin until 11am the next day. She was escorted to the cabin by a sterile gloved guard!
She was told she had to be on a light diet which would be sent to her! Nothing arrived.
I rang the medical centre who said rules are rules etc so I demanded to speak to the medical officer.
We agreed that so long as she stayed in the cabin there was no reason she shouldn't have the normal food sent from the restaurant and that after 11 am if symptomless she could leave the cabin.
Next day after 11am we left and went for lunch.
The Maitre d' approached Anne with a mobile phone, it was the nurse!
She wanted to know why Anne had left the cabin without HER permission.
Anne explained the doctor had said that would be ok. The nurse said she hadn't been told and she should still be in her cabin until given permission and that the staff could not serve her without her permission.
Eventually she agreed to give the permission and we had lunch!

In the meantime the decontamination squad had decontaminated the cabin 3 times!
We were then sent a letter asking what time could they come to do a deep clean of the cabin as we would have to vacate it for about 45 minutes. We were told not to leave anything out on the tops.
We said 7pm when we went to dinner.
When we returned we found all the glasses and dressing gowns and toiletries ( including Anne's own flannel) had disappeared.
Hence drinking champagne out of tumblers!
This took out one third of the three day cruise in an expensive suite!

I'm just going to make a cup of coffee. When that's done and we're all sitting comfortably I'll begin!

Absolutely Galen. Sticks in my craw when a company will not accept liability when it is clearly their fault......nice little earner if the majority shrug their shoulders and just accept the situation, not wanting to make a fuss or don't want the hastle.

The biggest insult was that we had to drink bubbly out of tumblers!
