Slainte to all my Granspals. Settle down and relax. The bubbly is nicely chilled. wine

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 21:28:47

The quarantine issue was just a case of officious nurses who liked their authority!
I'll try to tell you tomorrow!

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 21:26:41

The total bill is immense!
$40!

It's a matter of principle!

Charleygirl Fri 19-Dec-14 21:15:54

granjura I would put money on it that the company will wriggle their way out of it. Probably stating that a crutch is not on their long list of items for repair or replacement.

granjura Fri 19-Dec-14 20:31:43

Wahat a pain about your crutch Galen- but surely you had travel insurance that will cover it?

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 20:17:08

You're a gem Galen! tchgrin

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 20:14:46

Perhaps I should have typed fawlty rather than faulty?

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 20:13:48

I'll tell you about the quarantine when I've recovered my equilibrium (whatever or wherever it is?)

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 20:12:05

It partly closed with my crushed crutch in it then wouldn't open or close until manually forced!
it was faulty, but they won't admit it's their fault!

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 19:58:07

Clearly not to be tried on a Cunard liner annodomini.......

annodomini Fri 19-Dec-14 19:51:20

Many a time I've put my foot in the door of a closing lift to enable it to re-open and let a late-comer enter. If the lifts on stations have this facility, surely a luxury cruise liner should have the same.

Juliette Fri 19-Dec-14 19:27:06

A couple of years ago I got my arm caught in the automatic doors of an overcrowded London bus. My 'bingo wing' saved me!

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 18:26:29

Doesn't bear thinking about; surely any lift has to have an automatic 'stop' when the door is obstructed?
Apart from this and being quarantined I do hope that you had a good time.

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 18:17:56

Quite! There were a lot of elderly(? Osteoporotic) people on board. If it had been an arm?
Everyone was complaining about the lifts closing too early, not just me!

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 17:35:24

One just cannot get the service one expects, can one? tchsad........ especially when bl...y paying for it!
Just as well was a crutch and not a body in the way tchshock!

soop Fri 19-Dec-14 17:26:23

That's such a poor show, Galen How very dare that company treat a VIP in such a downright mean manner. I say sue them...

Well, we cancelled the engineer's call to put our phone to rights. Okay! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo A friend has just tried to speak to us and after three attempts has had to give up. The *** line is STILL out of order. Deep sigh and naughty blasphemous words coming from our kitchen.

Bye for now. I shall return in the morrow. x moon

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 17:14:39

Exactly! Cunard are definitely going down hill. They're no better than anyone else these days and still twice as expensive !

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 16:56:26

That ends the speculation Galen tchsad, I though you might have been fending off hoards of admirers tchenvy!
Seriously though, it must have been a damn nuisance and very inconvenient for you. Bet somewhere it's in minuscule print that they accept responsibility for next to nothing!

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 16:51:07

My carbon fibre crutches were in the holder on the back of my mobility scooter.
The lift decided to close as I was entering, crushed the arm cuff.
We were in Spain at the time and I remembered that I had had to order them from Spain. Our concierge arranged for a new cuff to be couriered to the ship and fitted it for me. But I had to pay for the new cuff and the courier.
It was their lift!

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 16:13:07

The thought of forking out £120 spurred me on, couldn't find screwdriver to take front off little box so used a knife- just as good! Health & Safety would have had a fit! Do hope get fully functioning systems soon tchsmile

soop Fri 19-Dec-14 15:59:40

tchgrin That was clever of you, loopylou We've also ordered some of those thingymajigs from Amazon.

Galen dear girl, welcome back and all that jazz. Now...where did you hide the chocs. I'm a short-arsed little old lady...unable to reach the very top shelf. Take pity on me please. tchwink

Anya Methinks Galen's crutch broke as she was chasing after a handsome member of the crew. She tells us otherwise...but then she would, wouldn't she. tchgrin

Nellie You poor love. Tell Mr Nellie that us lot want him to knuckle down and do his bit. Otherwise, we Kitcheners may well come calling...and he wouldn't want that...would he!

loopylou Fri 19-Dec-14 14:36:24

Not sure Galen would admit to that if it were true tchgrin! Broken crutch sounds inconvenient (-or could be very uncomfortable-)........oops crutch not .....! Memotoselfstopspeedreadingandgetbacktodecoratingtree.....

Anya Fri 19-Dec-14 14:29:49

Must have missed the story of the broken crutch (trust you mean one of those wooden or metal things to help your mobility and not ).

From your comment about Cunnard I'm guessing you didn't fall off it during cocktail hour or beat the bursar about the head with it hmm ??

Galen Fri 19-Dec-14 14:19:37

Just about! Cunard won't pay for the repair to my crutch, so I'll get one of my legal friends to help me compose a letter to them.

annodomini Fri 19-Dec-14 11:25:54

Welcome back, Galen, if you are back. tchhmm

Charleygirl Fri 19-Dec-14 11:25:50

Oh yum, just what I needed, thank you so much. I hope that you enjoyed your cruise Galen. I am aware that you have booked another, how soon is it?

soop you are so lucky to have a clever, intelligent man around who has saved your household a great deal of money re BT. One of the many reasons that Rory is so attached to him.
