Ghosts ?/

Our local paper carries an article this week about ghostly happenings at the council offices in town. Apparently kettles are turning themselves on, as are computers, and some folk have reported shadowy figures hovering near them. Some staff are refusing to work alone in certain areas.

My DH saw a ?ghost car on his way to work on Monday. Headlights appeared behind him (this was at approx 03.40) down a straight part of the road. He rounded a bend and the lights disappeared. There were no houses or side roads to turn off to. The river was on his right. He said that the funny thing about this car is that it appeared to float above the road. It was all very strange and must have unsettled him, as he doesn't talk about these sorts of things.

DD once saw two nuns in full penguin garb walking towards her. She thought it odd cos our local nuns wear civvies. As they approached her they turned left and walked through the wall. When she got to the spot it was clear that there had once been a gate there that had been bricked up. DD isn't keen on nuns at the best of times.....Catholic education and trips to Lourdes where the nuns are like the Gestapo in the way they instill fear into the pilgrims. She was even less enamoured of ghost nuns lol.

I often hear footsteps in our house and there was childish laughter when we first moved in. I wasn't the only one to hear it. Children certainly see and hear things we can't.

The things that go bump in the night,
Should not really give one a fright,
It's the hole in each ear, that lets in the fear,
That, and the absence of light!

Next door has been empty ever since I moved here 8 years ago yet I often hear a family. Muffled chatter, children laughing and running on wooden floors. At first I thought someone was getting into the house so called my landlord who owns it. He checked it over and found nothing. It was secure and nothing had been disturbed.

My own house is often visited by an old man. I smell his baccy and sometimes catch sight of him out of the corner of my eye but when I turn to look properly there is nothing there.

People have seen someone cleaning the upstairs windows of a house further up the street. It's not the owner as the window cleaner has been seen when she's not in the house. The owner said she doesn't mind sharing the housework but unfortunately the ghostly window cleaner doesn't have any effect on real dirt.
