Do you "go out" during winter/cold days ... or do you stay in.

DD is taking the boys to a fireworks display tonight. She asked if we would like tickets. As it has just started to rain it took me a nano second to make up my mind.

Woodburner is lit, supper in the slow cooker, dogs curled up on the hearth rug.......I'll pass on the fireworks, thanks.

No choice - have dog must walk!!!

A few days 'in' and I start to get what DIL calls 'cabin fever'!

It's the rain, not the cold, that puts me off going out.

As Elsa would sing: 'The Cold Doesn't Bother me Anyway'!
(Those of you without DGC or whose DGC are over the age of about 8 may not understand!)

Although I do prefer a nice warm day.

When I had a dog I was out every morning regardless of the weather. Now I need a reason to go out. I've got loads ongoing indoors which I enjoy so why get uncomfortable by getting cold and wet? Except of course it's not good not to have exercise.

I'm out at least twice every day to walk the dogs. After 20 years in Wales I don't even notice rain and looking at all the kids half-dressed right through winter it's obvious that cold and wet do no harm. They're just uncomfortable.

I'm out pretty much every day albeit usually driving somewhere to meet someone! I can manage a day at home by myself then the walls start closing in. I've been home from holiday 9 days and have been out for 8 of them including 6 evenings. Having a house day today before heading off north for the day tomorrow to visit DS, DIL and gorgeous gs.

I tend to stay in if the ground is icy cos I am scared of slipping, although, since I bought some yaktrax, I am a bit more confident about walking in snow.
I have low blood pressure and really feel the cold so, if I do go out, I like to wrap up in layers and walk as briskly as possible.
I think damp cold is the worst. It seems to penetrate the old bones!
I hate going out at night when it is dark. I'd rather have a lunch out than an evening meal and am happy going to theatre/cinema matinee performances.

I am definately an 'out' person. I have my 'winter warmer' project in next doors garden which involves a great deal of heavy digging. Just love it and come in all cosy and warm and have no need to put the heating on.
Today it is pouring down so have been confined to quarters so I have spent the day making more quilts for Project Linus.

teetime i'm restless inside! If that makes sense. When there is sport on the telly, my husband can sit in one spot till there's a dent in the sofa.

I'm up and down, fiddling, knitting, reading, gransnetting, cooking, baking, etc.

I enjoy getting out and about. As I live alone, I can get to feeling really low if I am stuck at home on my own for more than a day or two. I usually have quite a lot of things on, and a fairly busy life so that I don't feel I'm just going out for the sake of it. Since here in Manchester the new tram line has opened a year ahead of schedule, a friend and I have really enjoyed taking free tram trips, courtesy of the wonderful bus pass, to parts of the city that we're not familiar with. I feel very lucky in that there's a lot to do and see at minimal cost in the city.

I like to go out for some part of everyday and will play golf throughout the winter as much as possible- sadly we are rained off today- cant hold the clubs in pouring rain although I have done. We can walk into town from our house in 10 minutes so if we have nothing else on we just go in for a mooch and a coffee. DH gets terribly restless so he's in and out of the house all the time. Today I'm in to make Xmas cake and wrap the presents I have so far. I have to say with the news about my Vitamin d levels it makes me all the more determined to get outside in the daylight.

I don't mind the odd day inside but I do try to get out most days. Once my second knee replacement is done I will revel in getting around without pain and I won't care what the weather is like. It's such a lovely feeling after being out in the cold to come home to a warm house and a hot drink

Are you in some kind of time machine harri? How do you know what you did this afternoon, when it hasn't even been yet?

A bit jealous though. I want to stay in and watch a film , preferably in English although I don't mind foreign with subtitles. I can only imagine the sheer bliss of it. [jealous]

I love to stay in and get cosy in front of the TV, this afternoon I watched a 2.5 hour film in German. I don't go out unless I have a specific reason to, I love my home.

There isn't a lot to be gained from staying in as we can't afford to have the heating on during the day anyway. Really annoys me when I go in shops after being cold all morning to find they've got air conditioning on. Aldi is the worst shop round here for being absolutely freezing in winter and Matalan is a place where you can go and lap up the warmth to your hearts content.

On saying that I went for an hour long walk at 8.00pm last night as I had a headache and indigestion, the freezing cold (was about 2 degrees) cured them both and it felt really cosy and warm in the house when I got back. I can't stay in all day, drives me mad, I have to go somewhere. This morning I walked 3 miles to the hairdressers in the cold wind.

I sometimes enjoy a day in when the weather is bad, it does feel cosy and you can catch up with strange things like clearing wardrobes and cupboards. That's what I did today, we stayed in , plus reading, playing on the Internet and cooking a large beef casserole for our meal. However, I want to go out somewhere tomorrow, as one day in is enough at a time.However, although I sometimes need to go out, I prefer to stay in on cold dark evenings, and wish I didn't need to go to any meetings etc.

soon yes summer is completely different . It's the that beckons ...

Try to go out everyday- in all weathers. But I've twisted my bad knee and have cold a rotten cold- so stayed in today and yesterday- will be going mad if I can't go out soon - doh.

Rain and snow keep us in because my wife uses an electric mobility scooter, and we don't like to use it in conditions where it could get wet. But if it's cold and dry, we're out somewhere. Nothing like a brisk walk along the seafront on a cold sunny day.

I don't mind the odd day holed-up indoors because of bad weather - it can feel quite cosy.

But most days I like to be out and about - I might miss something!

I think I've lived in the same place too long. It's got boring out there. Can't move now though. Just had new carpets put down.

I like being "in". Very happy to stay in for 4 or 5 days in winter time. Cant stand it any longer than that though.

Summertime is completely different.

Another one here who can't stay indoors more than a few hours, in any weather. Get warm clothes and boots on, and out I go.
Autumn has always been my favourite season, and I like winter too. Not so keen on rain.
