I have always thought that Seaton Carew sounds like the hero of a Bulldog Drummond story. (I'm not sure I've spelled that correctly – I've been away for a while.)

Jane10 - I was always led to believe that Yetts O'Muckhart means 'Gates of Muckhart'? (not at all sure where the Muckhart comes in, unless it's 'Muckyard', perhaps)?

DH has just contributed Paul (Cornwall), or Paull (East Yorks) and Petersfield (Hampshire).
And also the Devon twins, Peter Tavy and Mary Tavy, they would be mischievous ten year olds a bit like the children in Swallows and Amazons, perhaps they could be very clever child detective types and solve a murder.

Back to the matter in hand Yett`s O`Muckhart is an Irish labourer left in Kinrosshire after all his comrades went back home. Weem is a small pet dog. Not very big but brave and will have a go at dogs twice his diminutive size - for a fight or romance!

Elegran I do exactly the same, but have yet to give thought to the novel. I always think that Sybil Headingham in Essex is an aristocrat while Meysey Hampton is an Essex girl, even though her name comes from Oxfordshire, why else the silly spelling of Maisy?

Lots of strong men in Yorkshire. I fancy Skelton Langthorne as the Viking type, and as for Kirk Hammerton - he has to be the big strong protective type, but good in a fight when necessary!

Newton Reigney sounds like an interesting fellow, I wonder what he's doing these days. I used to pass him by on the way to Newton Rigg (he's an Agricultural College) when attending conferences there.
Near us we have a Once Brewed (okay for a pint) and a little further down the road is Twice Brewed (even better for a pint). Twice Brewed actually has a pub.

I like all these new characters. You will have to give me more details about their personalities and interests, though. How do they interact with Gordon and Earlston? Are the girls friends of May?

There's Burton Agnes, a buxom lass from Yorkshire..... Would she fit into your plot Elegran?

My children were born in Harold Wood. This being Essex I imagine 'arold from Steptoe and Son.

We have Kelly Bray quite near. I think she would be a hairdresser with bright red hair and a heart of gold. (A friend of mine has a niece called Kelly Bray, I don't know what colour her hair is.)

For Earlston any moment is opportune.

Prudence, very occasionally, visits Condom in SW France. Here she may shop for préscriptifs if hoping to bump into Earlston at an opportune moment.

I've passed Mavis Enderby, too, and wondered whether she would be a match for Earlston.

We have Flesh Hovel Lane - apparently there is a really nice restaurant in the marina down there but, somehow, it never appeals!

Our road used to be called Catsick Lane but luckily it was changed or we would never have bought this house!!

Here in Lincolnshire we have a village named Mavis Enderby, I`ve often wondered who she was, or if she`s fictitious. Then in Leicestershire, there`s a place called Husbands Bosworth. What is a Bosworth, and does your husband have one? Don`t think mine has!

I have heard the one about the drug dealers, and wonder how the shoes become so neatly over the telegraph pole, and if it is a sign that drug dealers are around in the area, where are the police? Just asking.
