Flumoxed !

I write down when the window cleaner has been so that I know when to expect him again. Imagine a list of dates with WC been, one day I picked it up but could not fathom out why I had logged the fact that I had been to the loo two weeks previously. I hope this is not a glimpse of the future.

Ah, Ye Olde Runcle Boot: a 1930s mock Tudor roadhouse on the A45 South of Coventry, if I recall correctly. Long gone, alas.

I think it was Paul Jennings, author of the Oddlier books, who described trying to follow a route he had noted down, and being flummoxed by the phrase 'at the runckleboot'... which turned out to be 'roundabout'!

I used to write down key words from hilarious jokes I was hearing on nights out etc. I was sure that was all I needed to remember the whole jokes. Next morning I would look at them with blank incomprehension. I suppose it was good training for old age. Sigh

NanKate - DO check out that film! Saw it last night and loved it! I write things on random pages in my diary - all over the place, wherever I can find a blank bit. Lists, addings-up, bits of verse, hardly any appointments, though - they go on the calendar. My new, Cath Kidson 2015 diary will be treated with more respect!

Yes, it's called Shopping List. I write with one hand whilst eating, drinking, cooking or whatever with the other. In consequence I am frequently at the shop and haven't a clue what it was I meant or wrote. I have come back three times lately without granola. Instead I have three unneeded bags of granulated sugar.
