Thank you for this one, phoenix. There is no end to the new ways 'they' try to get us. GNHQ, is it possible you could add a 'scam of the week' to the weekly newsletter? Just reminding us that these crop up from phone calls and emails would be good for us all, no matter how savvy we think we are.

Afternoon all,

Just to say there seems to be yet another scam doing the rounds. Both yesterday and today I have received calls from people supposedly from the Banking Association of the UK, or The UK Banking Association (take your pick, neither of them exist unlike the British Banking Associations which is real and legit.)

There is the background noise that you would associate with a call centre, the callers have strong Asian accents, but names like "Karen" or "John" hmm

They say they are calling to ask if you are satisfied with your bank. At this point I hung up, did 1471 and then googled the number.

Now, I'm not sure what they are trying to achieve with this, but I suppose that it could be that if you told them who you banked with, you might get a call at some point about "odd activity on your account" and I think we all know how that scam works!

Pass it on.
