Hello and a warm welcome to you lovely lot. I'm about to brew a fresh pot of tea and there are plenty of goodies for us to munch on...grin

thatbags Fri 07-Nov-14 15:46:59

Have fun with your new arrows, galen smile. We fletch our own. Some coaches insist on calling it the "index" feather to prevent giggling amongst youngsters. Let 'em giggle, I say wink.

baubles, glad your wrist is feeling a bit better. Re jeans, I guess my washing machine must be gentler than yours as I don't find creasing a problem at all.

Lona Fri 07-Nov-14 15:27:57

Just popping in for some news, but I'll settle for a cuppa and a slice of cake while I'm here.
Hope Bella's ok.
Baubles glad to hear it's not too painful, is it your right or left wrist?

I went to Lidl earlier and came home with webbed feet!

Marelli Fri 07-Nov-14 15:01:58

baubles, glad to hear your wrist's feeling a bit better today. Your friend must've been horrified shock! How are you managing to type? Years ago I did something similar - we put our hands out to break our fall, don't we? My mother-in-law got the blame for my accident, because she phoned as I was coming up the front path after putting waste paper out for collection. I tripped and broke the trapezium on my right hand. I answered the phone and all she wanted to talk about was how well her 'other' grandchildren were doing, and wouldn't listen to me when I told her that Id fallen and that I felt sick! So I had to cut her off and WAS sick. Don't think she ever really forgave me for that! grin
Hoping Bella and her DH have a good meeting today.
Also that you're not feeling too sore today after your tumble yesterday, soop? I know that shop well, by the way - it has everything in it smile

B iPad. Blue cock (feather)

Galen Fri 07-Nov-14 14:47:28

The blue. O k is much prettier than my previous orange ones!

I hope Bella and her oh are ok as well.flowers

Nelliemoser Fri 07-Nov-14 14:47:22

Kitty It could go on either really. There is nothing like bit of gentle "double entendre" to raise a smile.

kittylester Fri 07-Nov-14 14:42:12

*nellie, that comment belongs on the Christmas bling thread! [grin

Baubles, I iron because I look like a ragbag otherwise and I can imagine my mother telling me I can't go out looking like that! Anyway, as you can tell, I'm busy ironing at the moment grin. Sorry to hear about your wrist!

I hope Bella and her DH are ok flowers

AlieOxon Fri 07-Nov-14 14:34:27

I watched my mum do piles of ironing....I don't! Especially jeans.
Most things when you wear them flatten out anyway.
I was carefully taught how to iron a hankie - what use is that now?

81 to go

Nelliemoser Fri 07-Nov-14 14:06:26

We are on a countdown to bigger premises. 82 posts to go!

Nelliemoser Fri 07-Nov-14 12:43:54

Galen A blue cock sounds rather worrying to me.

baubles Fri 07-Nov-14 12:17:09

grin bags I mean the ones that DH & I wear when not doing outdoor work.

Our 'smart casual' wear if you like.

I find that the washing machine puts creases into them which body heat doesn't remove.

rosequartz Fri 07-Nov-14 12:05:13

Oh dear, soop, I don't mean that you are 'daft' for ironing, you are indeed very virtuous. It is just not my forte (one day I may find out what is my forte).

rosequartz Fri 07-Nov-14 12:03:01

Before you all start thinking how virtuous (or daft) I am and that I am always 'dashing away with a smoothing iron', it is not true. DH does
all most of it as he was very concerned that I didn't do it properly! So I have been letting him demonstrate how it should be done for some years now.

Galen Fri 07-Nov-14 11:58:57

Fletchings

Galen Fri 07-Nov-14 11:58:37

Don't even posess a pair of jeans.
Hey Bags got some lovely new arrows, they're stiffer than my last ones and slimmer.black fletch inns with a blue cock!

thatbags Fri 07-Nov-14 11:54:00

Body heat melts crumples out, y'know... all except the ones that wearing the jeans remakes every time you move.

thatbags Fri 07-Nov-14 11:53:02

Jeans?!?!?!? People iron JEANS!

Gosh! No, really, GOSH!!

I thought jeans were invented as tough outdoor work wear. I don't think mine look excessively crumpled from being unironed.

And if they do, well... shrug... Life is too short, etc.

Galen Fri 07-Nov-14 11:39:05

Pay someone else to do it, but tend to try to buy things that don't need it.

baubles Fri 07-Nov-14 11:30:44

'Morning all, popping in for coffee & flapjacks if there are any left.

Thanks for the good wishes, it isn't a Colles fracture Charleygirl, I think that would be worse. It is less painful today so that's an improvement already.

I'm curious about all of you who don't iron, how does that work? I'm not a great fan of ironing but some things need it. Jeans, cotton or linen shirts for example. Please let me in on your secret.

flowers for the troubled among us today.

AlieOxon Fri 07-Nov-14 11:03:07

J and baby are still in the hospital, both have had a slight infection of some kind and are on antibiotics....seeing her tomorrow, I think. I hear they are both improving. My sister is on the way there today.

Love to all with problems and pains! sunshine

My ironing board is now in the tool shed...I think I used it once in the last few years, but it's an antique (?) and came from a secondhand shop at the bottom of the Hawkhill in Dundee - in the 1960s. And it cost 2/11d!

kittylester Fri 07-Nov-14 07:40:26

Just a quick visit to check everyone is ok but, particularly, to tell Bella that we are all there with her in spirit and to wish her and her DH good luck today!

Crafting Thu 06-Nov-14 22:23:22

Soutra I know what you mean, I could do with some peace at the moment too. Nellie, Lona and Bella can I join you in your quiet corner. Bella I do hope there is good news for you tomorrow ((huggs))

Kitty come and sit down and I will make you a brew. Put your feet up and have a rest.

Baubles what a nasty shock for you and now you have a broken wrist to deal with too. sad

Soop poor you. Hope you're not in too much pain. If this wasn't a virtual kitchen we could all run round and look after both you and Baubles. I was going to say I would get you a wee dram Soop but after Galen's comments I think you might have had enough already - and at that time of the morning too! shock

Lovely flapjacks Bags. I might just sneak a second one if that's OK grin

Charleygirl Thu 06-Nov-14 21:36:09

Galen my ironing board and iron are like yours, in excellent condition. I think that I have used the iron once in two years. Now that I no longer work, there is little necessity. Think of the electricity I am saving!

soop, Mac S is going to need you to do some driving soon so we cannot have you incapacitated. Rory will not be happy when Mac S goes on a day trip.

Bella very good luck tomorrow when you and DH see the consultant.

Baubles I hope that your wrist is not too painful- was it a Colles fracture?

flowers to all.

Greenfinch Thu 06-Nov-14 21:03:22

soop I may well come down at night as I don't sleep well. I'm glad you like my name. When I changed it I wanted to be called goldfinch but I was told there was already a member of that name though I have never seen him/her post.

Galen Thu 06-Nov-14 20:36:45

My ironing boards last for years. ( perhaps because I don't use them?hmm)
