soop I hope your shoulder will soon be feeling much better - I did have a cortisone injection years ago into a big toe joint and it has been fine. Why are toe joints more embarrassing? I suppose painful shoulders sound as if you have been busy and hefting heavy objects!

I have just returned from Glasgow after attending our friend's funeral and learned that another friend's teenage son has an infection in a heart valve and has also had a stroke. At first they thought he had Meningitis. I really do not want any more bad news this week

We are in bits here. DD's 12 week scan has shown serious problems with her baby. It is her first bsby, she is 37. Nuchal scan was twice what it shoulld be and subsequnt blood tests indicated a 1 in 2 chance of Downs. She has had either CVS or an amniocentesis and will get some results on Tuesdqy. If not Downs may be another chromosomal disorder which could be even worse. She and her partner will now have to face one of the worst weekends of their lives and I grieve for them.

We've done the weekly shop, enjoyed a light lunch in the Royal and had a cortisone injection in my left shoulder...all relatively painless Rory was miffed [naturally] as his lunch wasn't served until a few minutes ago. He's now having a thorough wash behind his ears.

We`ve been on the hunt for a replacement gas inset fire, ours has been on the blink. After Wednesday`s fruitless search, and a not very helpful assistant at B & Q, and a less than useless one at Homebase, we went to the Boston Calor Centre yesterday, the lady couldn`t have been more helpful, and we`ve got a fire on order, should be fitted in the next few days. Gasped at the fitting fee though, £149! I thought that seeing as there wasn`t any actual piping to install, just take one fire out and put another in, it would be less, but apparently it`s a standard charge.

soop, I have had one shoulder partly replaced and the pain on the run up to that was excruciating so you have all my sympathy. This spring, the other one was giving trouble and the GP injected it. The result has been miraculous so I do hope that yours is equally successful. Good luck! And don't belittle the pain you have been suffering. You were most certainly not bothering the doctor. x x x

Thank you Agus The pain started in May and it wasn't until Monday that I finally told the GP that I was in agony. I apologised to him for "making a fuss" and he replied that there was certainly no need to apologise. He put me through a series of painful manoeuvres, some of which were impossible to carry out. However, that's enough of my aches and pains.

Tomorrow morning MacS and I go into Campbeltown to do the Tesco shop, after which, we'll have a light lunch at the Royal. Although it is a very simple treat it is something that we really look forward to. Naturally Rory's lunch will be delayed somewhat, and he'll expect a few biscuit treats mixed in with the special diet morsels. He takes a long sniff and then proceeds to pick out the treats and leaves the other food until much later. Talk about canny

I shall pop in tomorrow afternoon to catch up with the Kitcheners x.

I`m looking after my youngest grandchild, 6 year old Kian, this week and next, and this afternoon he really made my day, nay, my week! I`d just peeled a little orange for him, brought it to him on a tissue, and he said "Thank you, you`re lovely Grandma." So is he, very.

Hello soop. Yes, CT is a build up of calcium in the tendon and the pressure caused by this is was causes unbearable pain, especially at night. As a rule it was recommended that :3/4 injections were limited per year but studies have found that the injections can actually preserve the joint. I have approx 5 per year, especially my left shoulder, as does my GP who has the same condition and he administers my injections.

I have had this for 6yrs now and have recently discussed keyhole surgery with my GP. IT's a thought!

You have my complete sympathy living with, to use a Scottish word, constant 'louping' pain but I can assure you the injection, accompanied by a slight 'ouch' moment, works wonders and you will be pain free. The doctor will feel around your shoulder to locate the central point of pain and that is where he will inject which is nothing compared to the pain you are experiencing at the moment.

I promise, you will be a new woman once you have your injection tomorrow

Hello, soop and all the kitcheners. Yes, you are right, I travelled today from Malta to Gatwick where my dear BiL was waiting for me. Am now settled in with my dear sister in Kent. It is great to be with her at last.
