Elegran, snow is indeed an excellent insulator. Up here in our mountains, houses have very wide lightly sloping rooves, so the snow does settle on top to insulate. We sometimes have up to 4 or 5' of snow on top- keeps us cosy.

Snow is a good insulator, rosequartz They say that when you are completely buried in a snowdrift you don't feel the cold at all after a while, and just drift off to a really good sleep . . .

ps can someone please bring me a nice throw (one of those very expensive ones recently modelled in the press). It's a bit chilly out here on the rockery.

Good idea, Brenda. I'm gradually coming round to planting some. It'll probably work out cheaper in the long run.

Rosequartz is very calming, and will improve your marriage no end if you put it under your pillow, apparently.
My granddaughter would probably love it if I changed my rockery to rosequartz, but I can't afford it.

I know that, but rosequartz doesn't grow in a garden. I have a very nicely polished piece of it which I was given by an Australian guest what seems a long time ago.
