hildajenniJ, our dishwasher is 'built in', and I've had no trouble getting the repair chap out to it. Mind you, I did buy one of those ridiculously expensive maintenance contracts.

Filters suebailey! Where do I find them? I do wash it once a month, when empty, but don't use one of those cleaner thingys, I just use an ordinary Finish type tablet. Mine works better now it's been fitted by the kitchen fitter. When John Lewis fitted the same machine 3 years ago, I was often disappointed that it didn't clean as well as the old one. The kitchen fitter said that was down to the way the pipes had been installed. Dishwashers though, aren't they wonderful.

When we had really hard water I used to use salt as well as a 3 in 1 tablet. I still use rinse aid if I remember.

Our lovely old built in one was mended a couple of time by the manufacturer! That's plain silly, even sillier than my new improved one!

My built-in dishwasher was very good and washed very well. I haven't been able to use it for over TWO YEARS because when it broke down, nobody would come to look at it. The excuse they all give is that it is built in. What difference does that make?

That's because it's that old J52 - that was before they brought out an improved version! grin

I have a 15+yrs Bosch dishwasher, which has always had salt, rinse aid and whatever washing tab is on offer. Seems to work well. Mind you it will probably stop now! X

That's does sound odd in a way but in another way I have considered doing that when the results have been as good as I would like. I just use one of those cleaner thingys once a month, wash the filters regularly and I don't put glassware in as it never looks good and gets scratched from dishwasher washing. I use Sainsbury own make unless Finish is on special offer.

Hmmmmm....being an old cynic....that sounds more like a stock excuse. I find modern 3 in ones....Morrisons is cheap and GH recommended, are excellent and my dishwasher is a pretty basic one put in by the builders.

I have mentioned elsewhere that my dishwasher had broken. The nice man came this morning and when I complained about how badly it washes compared with the one it replaced, he said that it would work better if I used salt, rinse aid and power ball dishwasher tablets rather than the 3/4 in 1 type I have use for years. Progress - huh!!!!
