The rain did stop eventually, but too late.... the fete was cancelled.
So sad after all the hard work and preparation.
It's started raining again, and is so cold that I've got a heater on.
(envy you, suzied, still enjoying Breaking Bad. I've finished it and
miss it very much. )

Penstemmon Mon 25-Aug-14 17:02:16

suzied grin

We put the heating on when we returned from lunch out with our friends at a local restaurant. We all opted for a cup of tea rather than another glass of wine!

Persistent rain here too!confused

suzied Mon 25-Aug-14 16:18:44

It's bucketing down here, we have been binge watching Breaking Bad series 3 and now making some tapas dishes for neighbours who are popping round for a "summer evening supper" later. Was going to be drinks in the garden, Instead I've put the heating on.

Pouring down here - just said goodbye to 12 members of the family - I fed 14 at lunchtime (6 children from 18 months to 11 years), impromptu as they had planned to be out, but the rain scuppered that. It has been total mayhem and both OH and I have bad colds. I really can barely stand up and plan to lie down and rest now.

We have had 11 since Friday with the 3 extras today. Sometimes I really do think that I am getting too old for this, as I feel entirely wrecked.

Normally the whole crew stay at my DD's place and we go over as and when; but for the last year their house has been being extended and they do not have room for everyone in their little rented bungalow, so every time they all visit we have to accommodate them here. It is of course a joy in one way, but I really do feel totally wiped out. One lot from up north we only see now and again and, whilst it is inevitable that the sisters and cousins want to see each other, we do not get time to have a conversation with them and catch up on their news.

Luckily one of my DDs (we call her Cinderella) is a demon for tidying up and she would not dream of leaving a huge mess for us to clear up. Robert the Roomba is busy vacuuming one room for us!

Just been commiserating with DD1 on the phone and I thought that I should say that I didn't mean to rub your noses in our sunshine, so to speak. I wish I could share it with you all.

Good afternoon all. Breezy and dull in Northumberland. Poor excuse for a bank holiday. Relaxing with DH for he rest of the day.smile

Just about to trudge out again with the dog - cold and wet all day and dark.

Quick toddle around the park I think - still it will please the canine as there are a lot of squirrels just waiting to be chased

Still raining, and the village fete can't even get started. Don't know what to do with all these cakes I made!
Hang on, is that a slight glimmer of brighter sky I see over there in the distance? Fingers crossed.

dustyangel Mon 25-Aug-14 12:59:37

Sunny and bright here. The local forecast made the mistake yesterday of saying that August has been cooler than usual. hmm The temperature to day is rising at a rate of knots. It is not a bank holiday here. grin

Anno GS shares a flat in Sandhurst. smile

Greenfinch Mon 25-Aug-14 12:05:52

Still raining here in Berkshire.
anno if you are still in Sandhurst on Thursday why not join our meet-up in Reading? We would love to meet you.

Oldgreymare Mon 25-Aug-14 11:58:17

Steady rain here too. House to put back in order after last of the Summer visitors, DS2 and DIL. Feeling that 'empty nest' feeling! sad

AlieOxon Mon 25-Aug-14 11:53:20

Mornin' all.
Intermittent mostly rain here...but gardener has been working outside anyway, tidying by the house, looks so much better - and he has also swopped a good wheel for the bad one on my wheelbarrow, whoopee it works!
And he has put some filler on the side of the house where the rendering has come off, think ok but hope it is set before the rain sets in further.....

ninathenana Mon 25-Aug-14 11:39:01

Morning all.

DD has been camping all weekend near the New Forest with the guides. I wouldn't want to be in a tent today !!
Steady rain since 9am here in N.Kent.

annodomini Mon 25-Aug-14 11:23:41

Miserable morning in Sandhurst. Just back from sunny (yes really) France last night. What a comedown!

Ariadne Mon 25-Aug-14 11:18:06

Good morning from a very wet Devon. Theseus has given and gone to change out of his shorts, into trousers so it must be chilly too. He seems to think that to keep wearing shorts means it is still summer....

harrigran Mon 25-Aug-14 11:07:20

Good morning from a dry north east. The heating is on so it must be cool outside.
Several weeks of washing to do so I am putting off the evil moment.

henetha Mon 25-Aug-14 10:48:18

Raining cats and dogs here. And it's the village fete today. Hope the weather clears up. The committee work so hard putting it together.

Charleygirl Mon 25-Aug-14 10:37:46

cold, wet and miserable- why did I get up?

Galen Mon 25-Aug-14 10:22:47

Lovely sunny day in Fife - what a shame those having a Bank Holiday are not having such good weather - oh well (sigh), back into the garden wink

Lona Mon 25-Aug-14 09:34:28

Good morning, it's raining here too!
I've had a real lie in (for me) 9am! A lazy day ahead smile

Anne58 Mon 25-Aug-14 09:27:50

Dull, dark and rainy in North Devon.

Agus Mon 25-Aug-14 08:36:03

Morning all. Another sunny day in W Scotland, washing already out.sunshine

GD2 will be in school, for her first full day today and is very excited to be having a packed lunch with her best friend. They had a long discussion yesterday about what each other would have in their lunch box grin

nannotgran Mon 25-Aug-14 08:13:15

Raining in north essex as well

NfkDumpling Mon 25-Aug-14 08:07:21

Overcast and uninspiring here. Rain forecast by lunchtime and it does sound as if it's heading this way. Shame, as it's our local show today and it's generally a good one. I had hoped we could go early before the rain - but Himself is still languishing in bed. He may have he had a bad night.

A day for catching up with indoor things.

Have a good day All.
