Yes, but if you don't get it serviced and it goes wrong. It costs more in the long run. It's guaranteed for several years after the service, and they do come back looking like new. If I get it serviced every 7-8 years it should last me the rest of my life.

Couldn't you live with the 2 minutes a month gain, Galen? confused

I presume you can actually alter the time by hand...

Galen Mon 18-Aug-14 18:44:45

Rolex oyster. Just a 5year service. It's gaining 2 minutes a month so needs fixing.
To be fair, I've had it more than the 5 years they recommend for servicing.
I'm lost without it as I can swim and do everything in it.
Keep looking at the cheap (but very pretty) Swedish thing I've bought as an evening watch, but it doesn't tell me the date.

Which brand Galen? I was told something similar to repair an Omega watch which I had had for 30 years.
It's remained unfixed sad

Galen Mon 18-Aug-14 18:14:16

I'm in a total state of shock
I've just taken my watch to be serviced and been told the bill will be £425!
Gulp!

Here in County Wexford, Ireland, the day started off very bright. Now clouded over which is a pity as DH is desperately trying to finish cutting the lawn - 3/4 acre! The mower failed on our last visit, now replaced but the grass was so long that it has taken about 50 hours to get it to a level where the mower can go over it. We now have the biggest compost heap in the whole of Co. Wexford, DH has lost 5lbs and I am feeling pretty bored. There is only so much washing housework a girl can do! Oh, did make apple jelly yesterday with some windfalls but today have resorted to amusing myself on the internet.

Good morning all. Cloudy this morning but very pleasant as it's not humid and the sun can't get through yet. Our temperatures only got up to 38C Bella. grin I don't like it either and stay inside much more than I used to. Good job there's GN.

I hope your husband is able to have his operation successfully Nina, horrible to gear yourself up for something that doesn't happen.

I'm sure the Lester kitchen will pass with flying colours and hope your first day goes well Kitty

Have a good day everyone.

Breezy here in North Devon and definitely colder!

henetha Mon 18-Aug-14 10:07:24

Feels quite autumny here in south Devon. Sunny with some clouds and decidedly cool.
Going outside with my chain saw in a while to tame the jungle that is my garden.

Bright and breezy but chill near Brighton.

Must get my a-- in gear as I want to start the garden cut back.

Visited son yesterday to see how his house renovation is going - gosh they have worked hard and it is beginning to pay off. Master bedroom now completed with new fireplace, re-plastered re-wired and decorated.

They are busy sanding the floor in the second bedroom - what dust!!!! But looking good. He has re-plastered the ceiling and part of the walls and has the decorating to do.

Living room next. Reclaimed fireplace purchased, Lovely colours on the tiles.

Love the way they are working together as a team - DIL came wondering in asking where the flat headed screwdriver was as she wanted to replace the belt on the sander!?

Our push for feminism appears to have paid off ladies!!

The sun is out, washing in the machine and I am waiting for my delivery from Sainsburys between 12-1pm. There is an autumnal feel today in NW London.

Morning All. We've been babysitting ten month old DGS plus his dog for the last three days. DiL who has Crones, has been in hospital with food poisoning. She's now recovering and DS is thankfully better so we should be back to normal tomorrow. It's been rather tiring - this house just isn't arranged for an over active toddler!

Gagagran Mon 18-Aug-14 09:33:10

Morning everyone. Bright and breezy here on SE Hampshire coast. My washing is blowing on the line and should soon be dry even though the wind is a touch chilly still. Got to get the big suitcases out of the loft-space today so I can start chucking in things ready for France next week.

Happy days everybody sunshine

Good morning all. Sunny at the moment in East Sussex. It was great to see the two Lancaster's with two Spitfies on Friday.
Today we are pet sitting an elderly Labrador who does not like to be on his own. I think he is dementing a little sadly. He is ten and otherwise fairly fit.

PRINTMISS Mon 18-Aug-14 08:21:44

Good morning to you all, I think perhaps we are going to have a pleasant day today, although a little uncertain at the moment. We have someone coming to dig over the garden this morning, but otherwise not a lot planned. Enjoy your days.

Galen Mon 18-Aug-14 08:21:10

Bright but cold

Bellasnana Mon 18-Aug-14 07:43:12

Good morning all. It is already very hot here in Malta. Yesterday afternoon the temperature in our courtyard reached 42C which is ridiculously hot. I used to love the heat but find it too much now.

Good luck kittylester and to your DD3 smile

Hope everyone has a good day sunshine

kittylester Mon 18-Aug-14 07:16:06

Good morning all!

It is overcast in North Leicestershire but there is no rain in the forecast. It's an exciting day in the Lester household today - DD3 has her H and H inspection (in our kitchen) and I have my first day of training for my new volunteering role! Onwards and upwards!

Enjoy your days everyone! sunshine
