Goodbye July with few regrets

Other than DD and 2 DGS here and the lovely weather July has been a bit of a s****y month.
It started with me breaking my wrist ( plaster off next week after 7 weeks) which in the big scheme of things has just been a blip.
My mum celebrated her 101 birthday or at least we celebrated her birthday as she was rather out of it which turned out to be the first day of her final illness. She thankfully was not ill as such just slept. 2 weeks later she died and at her funeral last week we celebrated her life rather than mourn her death.
Almost to the minute that my mother died (incidently on DD's birthday) DD's SiL died in Canada. She had not told anyone of her family that she had breast cancer (for 2 years) but had refused ALL treatment deciding she could treat herself etc etc. DD has now taken on the task of trying to sort everything out as she has the language (she married into a Chinese family and her in-laws do not speak English) and the time difference is better. SiL had not sorted out her affairs and has left one hell of a mess with business and properties.
As DD has commandered my computer rather a lot (and the phone) this is the first time I have been on GN for a few weeks so I do hope you have all had a better July than the one I have described. The joy of course has been the 2 DGS's who celebrated their 5th and 1st birthdays just before the s* hit the fan. They all return to Beijing in 3 weeks and to say the house will be empty and quiet is an understatement but I will beable to remember what colour my carpet is !

What a miserable time you've had. I hope things improve very soon. Take time out for yourself have a brew wine which ever you prefer, or both of course!

So sorry to hear about the horrible time you've been having - especially of course your mum but I'm glad there you took some comfort from her peaceful death. Very sad about your daughter's sister-in-law - I can't imagine how she went through all that without telling anyone.

Wishing you a happier remainder of the year.

Sorry that you've had such a horrible time Tiggy. Especially when you must have been really looking forward to your GSs and daughter being with you.

flowers and my condolences on the loss of your Mum. Although you have been able to celebrate her life at a great age, it is still a sad time for you.

Thank you all. It certainly helps having a rant on GN. Having just read the post from Nanacindi my July does not seem quite so bad however much I thought it was at the time.
