'Bo Peeps Arms' (formerly Pete's Bar) reopening night

Pete's old place has been empty for a while now but a few of us 'regulars' slipped down the lane one night, prised away a few planks holding the door on, and are now squatting in the public bar.

The tea-lights add an interesting 'dimension' to the bar (plus magically erase wrinklesgrin).

It needs cleaning up a bit - so laydees come along, bring rags/buckets/mops - and whatever else you can lay your mitts on to swab the decks down. I've brought a box of Country Manor perry - so bring your own tin mugs and we'll get started. The planned Grand Opening Night is tomorrow…so someone will need to nip down to the shop and get in a few bottles. Glam are you okay with rustling up some sausages rolls? you could put a bit of that green stuff (parsley?) on them to make them look posh…..

We're behind you all the way, glamma! grin

Lona Tue 19-Aug-14 18:46:59

Now back to the menu, meat & potato pies for tomorrow and a nice big cottage pie with thick gravy all you veggies can have cabbage soup but keep it away from papaoscar as the flatulence could be a problem and as we are all Laydee's and we don't want to be associated, us being genteel folk.grin

Lona Tue 19-Aug-14 16:15:52

I remember the good old days, when gramp's long johns were a sight for sore eyes, and now it's all 'new broom sweeps clean'. sad

glam'll never recover from all this shock

Charleygirl Tue 19-Aug-14 15:48:03

Hollydaze as you were practising at home, you may be the person to take over? I do not know what rates would be, probably as many dregs and left overs as you can manage.

HollyDaze Tue 19-Aug-14 14:28:36

[sigh] - I wish this cleaning was all done and dusted so I can join in ....

Charleygirl Tue 19-Aug-14 14:11:19

I think that kittylester should oversee the hygiene as her kitchen has just passed with flying colours.

Lona Tue 19-Aug-14 14:03:34

Charleygirl Maybe you're in the wrong place?
Maud's Tea Rooms are just down the road or perhaps Lady Muck's Wine Bar is more your style?
I believe the J cloths get rinsed out between cleaning the toilets and the kitchen there! wink

Charleygirl Tue 19-Aug-14 12:30:38

You may have glammanana but what about your helpers?

glammanana Tue 19-Aug-14 12:26:04

Certainly not amused about critic's on my hygiene as we all know I have passed all certificates with flying colours and do attend up date classes as and when I am out of rehab, blush

Charleygirl Tue 19-Aug-14 12:20:28

I am assuming that the kitchen is cleaned with the same cloths used for the loo? That appears to happen in a few places so why not ours?

boheminan Tue 19-Aug-14 11:52:39

Laydees. I'll have you know hygiene in this establishment is top notch. The Health Inspectors came last year and only failed us on 30 tiny little things (like mouse droppings in the saucepans - easily put right) they really go over the top. The saucepans are fine (give or take a few mouldy bits of food stuck to their bottoms) but I'm not too sure how things are since Pepper the pig managed to get up on the work surfaces and snuffle the pork pies - don't worry though, I swabbed the surfaces down with a (fairly) clean dishcloth. Pepper's worth her weight in gold since she was trained up as a truffle finder (I think they're truffles that she sniffs outhmm)

Ana Mon 18-Aug-14 22:44:13

Yes indeed!

(Although I think it was the suggestion that Miss M might be given free rein to nibble bits of beetroot and spit them back in the scouse which gave rise to the question of hygiene in the first place...hmm)

Lona Mon 18-Aug-14 22:40:00

Charleygirl shock
I can't believe you're casting nasturtiums about glam's hijean!

she's gonna kill you!

Charleygirl Mon 18-Aug-14 22:14:58

True, provided I am not in the local hospital with food poisoning.

Nonu Mon 18-Aug-14 17:59:34

Well we COULD CHARLEY , however as GLAM is so damn |^GOOD , AND ^ is prepared to do, I would not want to step on her toes.!!

papaoscar Mon 18-Aug-14 13:57:14

Ah, just back from doing a turn at the Edinburgh Festival where I was standing by to undersudy a fellow thespian with his musical flatulence act, should he have been found wanting with the low notes. Fortunately for Scotland, my services were not required.

Even so, I'm feeling a bit stiff and scratchy having just scrambled off the night-soil special from Prestwick. Thank goodness I managed to pass myself off as a supernumerary member of the cabin staff and thus travel gratis. Not sure that my bearded visage suited the high heels and pencil skirt but nobody seemed to mind and I did manage to pocket a few bawbees from sales of Festival souvenirs and old beer mats, so good news all round.

Now what have Her Holiness and you Laydeez been up up? The ideas for the Village fete are most encouraging. How about a tug-o-war between the Bo-peeps and all-comers? Perhaps some of the lads and ladettes from Grabitts could be persuaded to put down their loofahs and join in, and the Fat Ladies would add an unforgetable aspect to the proceedings in their bikinis. I'm also thinking that Sven and some of the chaps from the steam-room could don their sailor outfits and help splice the main brace. All we need is a few pounds of beetroot purée and some toad-in-the-hole to jolly things along. Glad to see the the sausages are measuring up nicely already.

Charleygirl Mon 18-Aug-14 13:03:32

Nonu maybe you and I should be the cooks there. Our hygiene would be impeccable so the local hospital would not be treating patients with food poisoning if you and I were cooking.

boheminan Mon 18-Aug-14 13:01:57

Haggis is only eaten on some Scottish poet guy's birthday - isn't it? Is it burns? (is which case, coming from Glams kitchen, t'will be appropriate (duck!!!)

Nonu Mon 18-Aug-14 12:01:04

Give me a good old bit of haggis any day, washed down with champagne!!
