I didn't see the first post and title as a 'light hearted observation'. I assumed the event which happened had been described to Felice was being blamed on H&S by either the people in the shop or her informant and reacted accordingly.

Adult debate is quite interesting.

Don't always agree with jingle but do on this one. Certainly not going to take any notice of GrannyTwice after she misquoted me so nastily on other thread. I rest my case and will do something more interesting than childish squabbles.

jingle I just looked back and the replies did not get 'harsh' or tetchy until OP accused a poster of calling her a liar ..which she had not done!

Well, I think felice made a light-hearted observation in her origianal post. But a certain poster replied very harshly. Not necessary.

Nonnie- what on earth are you talking about? FFS!!! After the OP were we all supposed to post in agreement and quite what would we have been in agreement with? So disagreeing means looking for trouble because of
having little in your lives? Have you any idea how ridiculous that sounds? That's pretty classic from someone who could have been seen as looking for trouble on the letter thread - why didn't you just agree with Aka's OP?

I'm not sure what you mean either Nonnie. I don't know who is carping and criticising and if the thread has wandered off topic isn't that what they all do at times? Like a conversation in fact. Anyone can feel free to bring it back to the original OP.

Tempted to start a thread with a real reason for people to criticise and carp to that they can leave other threads alone. So sorry for those who have so little in their lives they need to look for trouble. So sorry for the OP to have been so deliberately misunderstood.

Couldn't agree more about the conditions in which we keep animals Eloethan, but I am also concerned about the manner in which they are killed. Halal is an issue that has come up on here a few times. Kosher, never to my recollection, which probably reflects the media obsession with Islam and silent acceptance of Judaism.

Even if I ate meat I would never go to KFC.

I think the Halal debate is a pointless one. Generally, animals are reared in very unpleasant and unnatural environments and the method of their killing seems to me to be the least we need to worry about if we are concerned about cruelty. Kosher meat is similarly killed.

Given the somewhat heated debates that have taken place on here in the past, some people may wish to check whether their chosen KFC serves only Halal meat (as many do),

KFC chicken does not have bones in it as they only use baby chickens wot grow fast. They 'bones' are still quite bendy and apparently perfectly edible. I say apparently as I don't eat KFC because they don't use proper well raised chicken, but friends who do have verified the bones are bendy and just need a bit of chewing!

Only been to KFC once, never again. But, generally I do not particularly like chicken and particularly do not like catering chicken.

I seem to be in a minority as we have KFC quite often, especially as a treat after the Gym All our portions of chicken come complete with bones.

The last time I was 'naughty' and ate from KFC, probably a year ago, I had their original recipe chicken pieces, which definitely contained bones.

The OP says someone was told KFC was not allowed to sell chicken on the bone. The title of the thread implied the OP had assumed it was because of Crazy UK H&S laws, someone challenged that sometimes H&S was blamed incorrectly.

It appears that KFC sells both boneless and on the bone chicken.

So the answer to the question in OP is NO, neither a nanny state nor 'elf & safety' gone mad just a misinformed KFC franchise employee!

If people choose to make posts that are 'loaded' to apparently promote an agenda you have to expect a riposte or two!

I thought the funniest bit of the OP was: 'thought he would be naughty and went to KFC' He likes to live on the wild side, doesn't he.

Felice, is right many children and young people show a lamentable lack of knowledge about where their food comes from. The links below are to surveys done of primary and secondary aged pupils. The results are depressing!

Don't tar all the UK with the same brush, Felice Believe it or not, most of us do know about chicken, bones, milk, carrots, bacon and eggs. It is just that those who don't know seem to be disproportionately in the news.

Same with GNers, most of us do read the OP and follow the posts. Those who shout loudest are not those with most between their ears. Empty pitchers make the most noise, and those who know nowt shout what they don't know loudest. And some people just like to argue. If you say that grass is usually green they will trot out all the examples they know of blue grass, dead brown grass and wilting yellow grass, to prove you wrong.
