I loved watching him in Maverick. It was a family ritual to sit down together to watch him. Happy memories.

I loved the Rockford Files. He was such a handsome laid back young man in those days.

I know what you mean; I think he was ill a few years ago and then I never heard more about him so assumed, like you, that he was dead. imo he was a very underrated actor because his style of gentle humour wasn't as easy as it looked. The Rockford Files was probably a bit ahead of it's time as well [I'll have to google it].

It was reported in the DM that he had had a stroke 6 years ago. He seemed a really nice, modest man. Quite good looking too

He seemed impossible to dislike, didn't he. What a lovely man and charismatic actor. He will be missed.

I liked him in Maverick.

Not being critical of the OP but I've noticed that people (especially on the telly) are now tending to say, 'passed' rather than passed away or just died.

Another fan of Maverick here. He just seemed to inspire affection with his self-deprecating humour.

The Rockford Files started in 1974 so I'm pretty sure it was the first of a new genre of detective programmes.

I did love JG in The Rockford Files.

He was in a couple of Doris Day films and was charming in them. I used to love the Rockford Files with him and the Huggy Bear character. Not so keen on the Maverick role though. He always seemed to be just a nice guy

He was getting on when he starred in Space Cowboys, and he could still cut the mustard! He was brilliant in Maverick though

Incidentally I used to love that series, we would settle down every Sunday to watch !!

I think he was in a film called ' Support your local sheriff' now that was really funny.
